In a first, Iranian state hackers shutdown a British power plant for 4 days.

Iran shut down a British power plant for four days in an unprecedented cyber attack, The Telegraph discloses.
It is thought to be the first time that hackers affiliated to the Iranian regime have succeeded in closing down such a facility in the UK, and is believed to be the most successful cyber attack of its kind.

Conventional water plants can still be ran by hand. The problem is, some of the newer plants have filtration systems that require them to be run by computers. I work in a lot of water plants and I try to tell the managers that they should require these plants be run by hand several times a year so their guys are trained to do so. Of course they kick the can down the road and eventually nobody will know how to do it.

I was a controls engineer for years, and I programmed PLCs and DCSs. Yours is a great idea. Not only would it help in these cases, but it would do wonders in training them to really understand the process.
