Exactly this. Trump is a good candidate. He isn't a good party leader. Everyone loves to point to the "Trump endorsed" candidates that might win a primary or a state position in a ruby red district but he picks absolute dog shite when it matters.
The climate in the US is a slow machine. The pendulum swings but it swings slowly. Trump picks candidates that don't move the needle at all. Hershel Walker? Paxton? Oz? Letlow? They're dogshit candidates. They don't know how to play the game, they don't know how to maneuever the field. You play the long game and Trump can't do that. He already has the Rubio and Vance factions fighting.

This isn't a real thing. Vance and Rubio are pretty well aligned.
What's happening is that the anti-Vance people, meaning the neocon and GOPe types who think their seat at the table might be expiring and who are tethered to Israel - are trying to draft Rubio, even though he's not ideologically aligned.

I'm becoming more Anti-Vance because on foreign policy he is resembling Carter and on domestic policy he aligns with Nixon, who was an economic disaster. Period.

It had nothing to do with ICE. Trumps current term has been a disaster. Campaigned on no new wars; lower prices, etc. When people’s wallets are getting hit more and more, voters will flip. Covid caused inflation, Trump lost 2020, Bidens term, everything got increasingly more expensive, Trump won 2024. I work with so many republicans, and they’re pissed with how things have gotten. Now most of them said they’re still going to vote red, but the independents that won it in 2024 for Trump, have jumped ship.
