Now you might be against illegal immigration, but that doesn't mean you should just cut out a large chunk of our nation's history because it doesn't fit your short-term political goals.
But when you say "we are a nation of immigrants" you are cutting out approximately 88% of America.
We are more than just a nation of immigrants.

The immigrants they are referring came to America to abide by our laws, to become a legal American citizen, and to work and earn a quality life for themselves. They respected America.
Immigrants now have no respect for American law, have no willingness to assimilate, expect free shite and that's exactly how the Democrats like it.

My ancestors moved to the Acadian Coast of the Isle of Orleans during the mid 1700s at the request of the Spanish Governor.

To draw a bright line and say, "well your parents were immigrants, but you are technically aren't" is disingenuous to the point of dishonesty. The families of immigrants are different than the families that trace back their ancestry for 100 years. And even then you can tell the Irish from the Italian from the Polish. Immigration as a phenomenon is bigger than the single person (and his generation) that moves here.

First of all I AM NOT AN IMMIGRANT.
I AM AN AMERICAN.
The nation is comprised of approximately 12% first generation immigrants. I even hate using that term "first generation immigrant" because it implies that there is such a thing as a second and third generation immigrant.
Note to propaganda machine and lemmings who promote it: if you are born in America you are not an immigrant.
Furthermore on my mom's side my ancestors were settlers to the New World from Canada via France in the 17th century before a country on the continent of North America was even in existence. My ancestors on my mom's side were annexed by the U.S. when Napoleon to sold Louisiana to the United States for approximately 15 million francs in 1803 to pay for his military machine.
On my dad's side he is a third generation from three brothers and one sister who immigrated from Vicenza Italy. The rumor is,that the kids were the bastard children of a cardinal and they had to GTFO of Italy before they became known or a big scandal would have ensued.
The bottom line is Americans has all kinds of stories on how their ancestors reached these shores. But sorry, after the first generation YOU ARE NOT AN IMMIGRANT.
Been tooting that horn since the whole "we are all immigrants' first reared its head. I have taught my grandchildren that when their ancestors landed there was no country anywhere. The were settlers and colonists. They either lived or died depending on their own resources and efforts. I have 3 blank spots in my ancestry where it is possible that they came here after the Revolution. Latest potential 'immigrant' was in 1832 - I do not know who her parents were, but she lived in a Scottish clan who had been in North Carolina for roughly a century. I have another who I cannot trace back further than 1803 and another dead ends at 1792. You have to go well into the 1600s to find most of my ancestors' arrival in the New World.
Legal immigration is a good thing - Welcome to America - illegal aliens are invading hordes.

Mine did their paperwork and wanted to be Americans.
Did immigrants in the early 1800s actually fill out paperwork? I never thought of that before - I don't see any documentation of that sort in the genealogy research I have been doing for 40 years. I only have 3 who fit that slot, and I have researched them more vigorously than I have any other 3 ancestors in my lineage.

This is the first era of our nation where immigrants are pouring in to take part in the welfare state. Not really comparable to immigration of the past

As if because you have one essential ingredient in making the united states then it must mean that unlimited amounts of that ingredient is a good thing.
When making cookies, flour is an important part. But that doesn't mean because one cup is good then 10lbs will make them better.

Dude, just stop. No one means currently. All you have to do is go back 200 years to now and you'll see constant immigration. You're being disingenuous because you don't like the people that are coming here. You're buying the propaganda that we haven't always been this way because it suits your ideas about what an inferior or Superior person is.
Speaking of propaganda...why did you use lemmings as the choice animal?

Is this the way old guys can be hipsters? "I did it before it was cool." Lol
Even if your ancestors were here before that doesn't change the fact that the nation is mostly made up of an immigrant history. I don't understand why you think your personal story somehow supercedes that. And also you have plenty of lineage and im sure lots immigrated. Not buying your bs, old man

I'm not the one placing people in victim groups where the only remedy is the federal government. People are on to your scheme.

Look up the word in the urban dictionary.

Only on my dad's side. I've already explained that in the OP.

This will be glossed over. Would the libs be ok with ending entitlements and income tax if we have open borders?

You didn't have to pay rent like you would to work literally any other piece of property. You didn't have to pay a purchase price. You got to have ownership of all of the crops you cultivate or minerals you extract. That's about as close to "free" as it gets.

Exactly. Immigrants in the past just came in and took over, forcing the inhabitants to assimilate (or in some cases removing them).

I'm native born.
Just because I have an immigrant in the family tree doesn't make me one.
