First of all I AM NOT AN IMMIGRANT.

I AM AN AMERICAN.

The nation is comprised of approximately 12% first generation immigrants. I even hate using that term "first generation immigrant" because it implies that there is such a thing as a second and third generation immigrant.

Note to propaganda machine and lemmings who promote it: if you are born in America you are not an immigrant.

Furthermore on my mom's side my ancestors were settlers to the New World from Canada via France in the 17th century before a country on the continent of North America was even in existence. My ancestors on my mom's side were annexed by the U.S. when Napoleon to sold Louisiana to the United States for approximately 15 million francs in 1803 to pay for his military machine.

On my dad's side he is a third generation from three brothers and one sister who immigrated from Vicenza Italy. The rumor is,that the kids were the bastard children of a cardinal and they had to GTFO of Italy before they became known or a big scandal would have ensued.

The bottom line is Americans has all kinds of stories on how their ancestors reached these shores. But sorry, after the first generation YOU ARE NOT AN IMMIGRANT.

That land wasn't "free", many lives and many years of blood, sweat, tears and toil was paid.

we are a nation of settlers or colonists.

Not immigrants.

We are a tolerant nation that has ALWAYS let immigrants in legally.

But we are simply not a nation of immigrants.

The left prides itself on being the intellectual side, yet the VAST MAJORITY of its members are fricking morons, and easily manipulated.

You can also respond, "but we are also a SOVEREIGN nation of laws".

If you worked it for so many years, it was free. In Europe, you could work land forever and it would never be yours, much of the land could not even be bought with money if you had it. In America, by working and living on a piece of land for a relatively short time, a homestead became yours absent any payment at all. That’s what drove immigration from the 19th century through WWi

You don't know the meaning of that word. It is not even slightly "snowflake" to criticize an agenda-based phrase that incorrectly characterizes a country.

It means he's paying attention to the lies being spread. You should try it.

You probably think that the Statue of Liberty is related closely to immigration. It is NOT. It is only superfluously tied to immigration. And in no way tied to ILLEGAL immigration.

I've been teased a lot about that. Never took offense. Always chuckled. In New Orleans that was the Marcello family. I'm not related.

IT actually is 100% incorrect.

We are actually a nation of colonial natives to the North American Continent who revolted from Britain and formed this Nation.

Immigrants are welcome, provided that they go through the legal process

Illegal immigration is the issue.

They need to emphasize this. Immigrants are free to come here but they have to follow the rules. The issue is border crossers and illegally sneaking in the country. That’s got to stop.

Agree. We are a nation of immigrants that assimilated to become Americans.

Currently identity politics do not want assimilation, they want enclaves of groups that hate each other. Another group promoting this is Muslim Brotherhood.

It's not propaganda, we are very much a nation that was built on immigration. People came here, and still do, to get a better life for themselves and their family. The reasons were mostly economic but significant numbers were also fleeing religious and political persecution (think puritans and the Cubans post communist revolution).

That is very different than most countries. That is a strength not a weakness. However this does require an ethic of assimilation. An ethic is that very much under intellectual assault from the academic left.

Now you might be against illegal immigration, but that doesn't mean you should just cut out a large chunk of our nation's history because it doesn't fit your short-term political goals.

You may want to read up on American history. Turns out, the "original" immigrants you are referring to weren't the first ones here. They may have taken a few liberties if you catch my drift.
