I'm hearing bad news on Biden's regulations affecting A/C systems

My A/C man told me that there will be no more SEER 14 units available at the end of the year.
The issue is that if your current system's condensor goes out but you have a good internal air handler you will have to replace both because your perfectly good air handler will not be compatible with the 16 SEER condensor.
This means twice or 3 times the price to replace everything where in the past only a condensor swap would do.
If you think your condensor is on it's last legs, you might want to deal with it sooner rather than later.

Add it to the list of things Obama and Biden fricked up.

Anything built before 2010 still using R22 will be obsolete soon anyway and R22 is getting harder to find and way more expensive.

410A is outrageous.
The replacement for 410A is being replaced with a flammable.
Muh green scam.

I have a big home with a really old fan thingy outside but the system in the basement is still pretty new.
Should I get a new fan thingy that goes outside and just store it in the basement until I need it?

What the hell are they using that flammable?

Had my AC replaced in Feb. No 14 SEER units available then.

Does this make mini-splits a choice that can make sense?
Has anyone planned a block of this?

R22 is/was a great refrigerant. The govt in their infinite wisdom decide R22 wasn’t environmentally friendly enough so 410 became the standard. 22 is outrageously expensive like you said and damn near impossible to find. A lot of what I can find is reclaimed R22 out of old units. Some manufacturers got around the 410 A requirement by selling “dry” units that weren’t factory charged from the dealer so you could swap a condenser and then get it charged with 22. Now you can’t find 22 so that doesn’t work anymore. The efficiency shite is a scam in my opinion because 410a isn’t as good as R22 and your unit actually has to run longer.

Poor people need air conditioning too! The LeftLibs think they are helping the environment, in reality, they are financially destroying the low and middle classes.

Yes, especially for DIY installation.
I don't like the pumping out of the condensate myself, but that's just me.

Damnit. I still haven’t gotten over them fricking up the light bulb selections. Now this….

Refrigerant grade Propane. R290 is being used in commercial refrigeration like reach in coolers.

Turns to "Gold" for politicians.
How much would Biden and Obama be worth if they had never been in politics?

I just had a new system put in a couple of months ago. it was a 14 seer I think. My AC guy recommended it. He said in my small house I wouldn't really gain much by going with a higher seer unit. It has a 10 year warranty I wonder how that would effect it if it went out. I would guess if parts aren't available they would upgrade to the replacement.

Mini Splits are here to stay and will be the future.
Another problem with the 16 seer and above is many of them are communicating systems with fancy circuit boards that can easily get damaged in a 150 degree attic space. Costly to fix.
R-22 was great because running pressures were much lower than 410-a thus easier on the equipment which in turn made it last longer.

Install on an exterior wall and you don't have to.

I think this may be what I have at a house I bought recently.
The unit is supposed to have the new stuff, but when the AC Inspector checked it, the pressures were different than what he expected and he said that it was because there was R22 in the system.
Don't know if that is accurate or not
