It’s been thirty years since I last visited DC. I just remember staying in Falls Church, VA. and taking the metro into the city.

Wife and I are going. We are staying near Dupont Circle at an airbnb with friends from Pittsburgh. When I first booked it it seemed really close to the Mall, but upon looking closer we will probably need to take the subway.

LINK the gateway pundit is co-hosting an inaugural party a few blocks from white house. Some interesting guests. Tickets available.

Grab a drink at Bullfeathers, it is near the Capitol, near the Capitol South Metro Station. Apparently, Bullfeathers was what Teddy Roosevelt said instead of cussing. It's been there a long time. Interns hang out there, get drunk, give up secrets of what there boss is doing. Other interns hang out there listening to what the drunk intern's bosses are going to do.

We’re staying in Alexandria so definitely won’t be walking in. Planning to get there bright and early though. We have great passes but I want to get in the best spot in our section that I can.

We’ll be arriving Saturday, so certainly will be patronizing some good restaurants and bars over the weekend.

We had lunch there last June. Heard stories from my daughter similar to what you’re relaying here.

I have tickets through Cassidy’s office. Will I have a specific area to sit in? Does anyone know how that works?

Pot Belly has great sandwiches, and there are several near the Mall. If you’re interested in museums, you need to be sure and check the websites, because some are closed on Mondays.
The metro is a good way to get around, just study up on how to use it before you purchase your ticket/pass.
Oh, and if you have a chance, Arlington National Cemetery is incredible, but it’s going to be cold. Be sure to layer.

Travel light. Don't carry too much cash. Don't wear your best watch, rings, etc... wear comfortable walking shoes. Keep your phone fully charged. General 'game day' apparel, I'd suppose. If you've got a spouse or buddy, stay in sight of each other, watch your back. Try NOT to wander around after dark.

*ETA - Once you figure out where you're staying, try to scout out how you're getting to and from the Inauguration. Know your routes, familiarize yourself with landmarks. Try not to rely on your phone to find your way, cell service may be crap on that day.

I’m afraid I don’t know specifically for Cassidy‘s tickets. I can try to find out. They might be pretty good though since he’s a representative. My passes are through Johnson‘s office and definitely pretty close, relatively speaking.

Congratulations by the way.

I’m excited as hell.

Turning your phone off alone will not help.
Use a VPN. A virtual private network (VPN) will encrypt all the traffic between your phone and any online resource it's accessing.
Turn off location.
Use airplane mode.
Lock Your SIM Card. Even if you're not a smartphone user, hackers or government agencies can still track your device's location by accessing your SIM card.
Trust no one.
