Let me know anybody who has been fired for not being vaccinated without having to acknowledge a written directive to do so.

I'm listening.

I don't know anyone unvaccinated that has gotten it in this latest spike.

Matter of fact, the ONLY people I hear about getting it are the vaccinated. I think the news blaming unvaccinated is just complete lies, tbh.

Once the VAX is FDA approved later this year, we all will be required to take it.

Document conversations - record date, time, and all parties present. Then provide a brief summary of the conversation. Include informal conversations where you may be threatened in an off-hand manner. Do not do this on the company computer, use your own personal device, even your phone to take notes - or good old pencil and paper. Do not leave these notes in a place that can be found by others.

Keep any written communication, hard and soft copy. Again, do not keep these records at work or on a company computer. Your archive needs to be at home, as you may have no access to your workplace or computer with zero advance notice.

If they fire you, ask them to give you the official reason in writing. If they have an HR department, that will be the way it is. They may make up a reason like down-sizing. Since you are now fired, don't be shy. Ask them directly about your vaccine status and if that played a role. They may surprise you and answer honestly.

Find the companies Covid policy, get a copy, bring it home. Don't answer questions about your vaccine status going forward, that information is protected by HIPPA (I think, others please chime in if not). You may want to research this point. Point being, if they fire you for your vaccine status, then they must fire all with the same status. If they fire you for a reason that is not an official policy, then you may have legal recourse.

Good luck.

If my company is willing to fire me over a shot, I must not be that great at my job. Keep in mind, if you get the shot, they can still fire you tomorrow for any reason - so it’s not like you are saving your job forever.

I can’t wait for a few conservative companies to publicly announce that vaccines aren’t required; they’ll snatch up great candidates sick of the BS and segregation.

I am VP of Operations in a large multi national corporation. Your employer can and will fire you for not getting vaccinated IF they institute a mandatory vaccine policy. This is allowed per EEOC guidelines.

Never forget that most companies unwritten mission statement is to maximize profits at the expense of the employees. If you are a threat to that, they will steamroll you.

New Jersey just passed a law that to remove your mask in the workplace you must provide proof of vaccination. Other states and municipalities are implementing similar laws.

I spend about 10% of my time now dealing with COVID related issues (employees, customer policies, and legal/law). Covid is a huge pain in the arse for business.

Not really, how long does it take to interview, hire, and train a new worker? Most covid cases are over well before that.

You can be guaranteed that manager has been in multiple Staff Meetings and his stance is what is on the table in those meetings.

He should be willing to tell you if he is in those meetings or if he is getting his news second hand.

The ground rumor says that when the FDA approves the vaccines ...your companies are free to demand the vaccines. Refusal to take the jab ...your time becomes short.

I'll take that bet, what do you want to wager?

I guarantee corporate America and their lawyers don't want any part of this can of worms.

And how can the government "make" everyone in the country take a vaccine?

This is a standoff. Pro-vaccine corporations want the government to make it mandatory and they (government) can't. Government knows they can't and wants to pressure the populace to do it by having employers make it a requirement of employment.

And are voluntary.

ETA: It's like dealing with the police. You have the right to remain silent.

Companies can already mandate the vaccine and fire you for not getting it, they don’t have to wait for FDA approval. See what happened at that hospital in Houston where a bunch of folks got fired for refusing.

Oh really? We don’t know anything about the company’s size or structure, or this supervisor’s level of authority within the company. I think what you say is most likely but I wouldn’t call it “guaranteed.”

(Unless that info has been disclosed subsequent to the OP)

It's not complicated. Right now ...the BOD and the Staff cannot move. At the same time the Corporate Lawyers have not made a decision yet ...

The key will be the legal thought when the FDA approves the vaccines and their suggestions will be followed to the letter.
