Screw that. It should be taxed 100%. Those funds should be helping our economy.

Yep. Didn’t Hoover figure out that too many illegals were staying in one apartment when the sewer and water system in an area got overwhelmed in the early 2000s.

I lived there then and recall something like that.

Many of these cash workers are finding a way to get food stamps and benefits to live off of to send that money home also. Don’t tell me they don’t, because it’s obvious at every Walmart.

I'm good with that I do think it's rather telling that OP just assumes they're illegal when we know he has no way of knowing this

they should have to show proof of citizenry if sending money out of country ! they are illegals other wise it would be a wire transfer from their bank , cash is a dead give away !

How do you know they're illegal? The "or blacks" portion of your statement really calls that into question.

shite bags always trying to cover their faces while working outside to dodge the darker skin in an effort to obviously attempt getting over on somebody !

Fair point, and I absolutely agree that this is a problem.

I see it much more as a failure of our government, though, and not a reason to hate on foreign workers categorically.

I don’t even have that much antipathy for illegal aliens. The vast majority are indeed doing hard work that most of us won’t. I absolutely want them to not be “illegal”, but (again) that’s much more of a failure of our government. Whatever else you want to say of Trump, he has more than demonstrated that purposeful border enforcement makes an immediate difference.

all immigrants should be categorized as illegal until further notice. We've taken in 10 million under Biden and must everify at every encounter. Call it a quicktime event

Are these people stealing this money, or are they being paid in exchange for goods and services?

If the latter, are we now being selective with the “It’s mine and I can do with it what I want.” mindset?

You pay taxes on your earnings and are limited from assistance based on those earnings.

Your money isn't yours either, really... just what Uncle Sam lets you keep out of his benevolence.

Uncle Sam needs to start picking their pockets, too.

That number is a little light compared to the other thread about this.

Good lord, the idiocy.

First, “all immigrants”? So, Elon, too? Melania?

Second, what the frick does “everify at every counter mean”? Are you somehow thinking the illegal aliens are just not being turned away when they stop in at the immigration counter?

There is no “we”, they are not citizens. They are criminals who broke our laws and remove money from our economy

If they want to do what they want, they can do it in their homeland. Anything they have in the US should be confiscated, no different than seizing property from the proceeds of drugs… what they have here stems from illegal activity

Why would anyone argue for remittances to be taxed at any level below the highest tax an American citizen can pay on income, capital gains, etc?

What’s the evidence they haven’t already paid taxes?

If it’s legal work, then they have already been taxed.

If it’s illicit “cash under the table”, then I’m all for it but will again point to my argument that it’s a failure of our government to not have these people properly documented.

They are here illegally using our public services and not contributing to our tax base. It is that simple. Apply for a work visa and pay state and federal taxes.

No free ride.

A productive member of which country's society? If he's sending the money back, he's not contributing to American society, now is he?

He's making enough to pay his bills and still send money home so...that means that he's also paying taxes and contributing to the local economy. And filling a job that might have a domestic labor shortage.

Oh and we still don't know this...but they might even be here legally.
