Iran doesn't want to get into an all out war with the US as they realize they will get crushed. Trump has already shown that he doesn't give a frick and will come after you. One would assume the Iranians know that if they retaliate, Trump is going to respond and the cycle will just continue until either they bend the knee or we declare war.

That said, if you're the Supreme Leader what is your next move? He is in a tough spot. He doesn't want to look weak in front of his people yet he has to balance the risk of setting off Trump.

Their best option might be to sit back and play the victim and portray the US as a bully. Maybe they can parlay that into better international relations that put pressure on the US to drop sanctions or persuade other countries to ignore the US sanctions.

They should shut the frick up and play the victim. If they launch a counter attack I would drop a MOAB bomb on the ayatollahs house and let them digest that.

That would only encourage Iran’s enemies to attack her.

They won’t do that.

I agree with this^. But I still want to know what people think Trump’s ideal outcome would be.

Still won't help their skyrocketed unemployment.
Still won't help their skyrocketed gas prices.
Still won't help that their own people hate their regime.

DWI frickers. Apologize and move on with your Ayatollah.

Valid point but I don't see too many countries lining up to attack Iran. Maybe Israel and Saudi Arabia? Even so, it doesn't seem like this would give those countries or others the green light... but maybe.

Yell loudly and quietly pull back. The risk of escalation is existential for the regime. For Trump and fellow politicians in the US, at worst, the risk is merely political.

This is really all they can do. Probably spread some propaganda among its citizens saying they are disrupting US interests or whatnot.

Iran understands that we don’t have the stomach for a prolonged war in the Middle East coming off of Iraq. Iran is not worried about the US occupying Iran. They are going to target soft targets through their Hezbollah proxies in Iraq and try to hack US assets in America.

Iran basically already has a shadow government that goes from Syria to Lebanon to Iraq and the US let it happen under Obama. Iraq is caught in the middle between Sunni Arabs and Shiite Persians. As soon as we withdraw from Iraq, Iran will exert even more influence over Iraq and they will continue to gain power.

The Israelis are always assassinating Iranians, or blowing up something.

And they need to worry about our conventional forces.

The Azadi Tower would make a nice target.

If Carter had just fricked them up when he should have then we wouldn’t have to be worrying about them today.

It seems common knowledge that they use proxies. If one of their proxies commits an act of retaliation, is that not the same as Iran retaliating? You can put lipstick on a pig all you want, but Iran is still hitting back regardless if a government official commits the act or someone paid by the government does.
