Every person on the planet will either create wealth or destroy wealth tomorrow.
A few may break even, but that rarely happens.
Gov’t workers mostly destroy wealth. The only way a government employee can create wealth is by taking it from a citizen.
If you can’t list five things you did in the previous week, it stands to reason the position you are filling is not necessary.
DOGE isn’t doing anything that businesses haven’t been doing for years.
1st thing Buffett does after taking over a company is to get lean.
The post office is a prime example of a bloated bureaucracy that does less with more.
I don’t for the life of me understand how you people think our gov’t becoming more efficient is a negative thing.

I don't remember buffet ever asking for every employee to email them 5 things they did last week. Or atleast he's never written about it in any investor letters or books....

Why would not want the opportunity to email a higher up directly and tell them what you've accomplished over the past week?
My last three weeks have been highly stressful with back to back meetings for probably 7 hours a day.
I told my boss that while I want to perform well I can’t do my job when 5-7 hours of my 8 available are tied up beyond my control. I’m an engineer, meetings have to happen but I can’t do my job if 70% of my day is tied up. He asked to see my calendar and I sent it and he said WTF,you can’t do your day to day with this. Start saying No and send them to me if it’s too much.
Not every day or week is like that but if you have trouble justifying your job, you’re probably replaceable.

Fully agree with everything you said, except here.
Government employees absolutely can create value.

I see you’re the type of person to do everything you’re told without thought or question. You’ll never understand why someone would consider whether a request is fruitful. We will just have to disagree.
Creating wealth isn’t a function of the government. If you expect government to create wealth, I see why you’re so upset with government employees. We don’t live in a communist economy.
I truly don’t understand how anyone would call asking millions of strangers to email someone a list that the person can’t evaluate or verify “our gov’t becoming more efficient.”

If you think the best use of someone’s time is to write a pointless list for a passive aggressive micromanager who isn’t even your manager…
Is this type of practice typical in your line of work?
It's typical for consultants whose job is to improve efficiency. Many times the workers don't even get the chance to defend themselves. This is not an uncommon practice. I'm not sure why so many are flipping out over it.
This is just the first step. It's the recorded phone interview before the in person interview. There's nothing unprofessional about it. It's how business operates on large scales. You may not like it, but it's not a reason to get emotional or indignant.
We have to massively cut the federal workforce quickly. Doing personal interviews with millions of people is not feasible. This is an easy step to identify the most useless employees.
You'll hear stories about some great employee who lost his job after decades of stellar performance and he only wanted to serve his country like his pappy and grandpappy did in the great wars. The propaganda will be thick, but the truth is that 99% of the employees identified with this email with not be worth keeping. It's not perfect, but it's the most practical approach.

The country was sick of the authoritarian prog left and somehow maga boys think that means we want authoritarian nationalist. This whole thing is going to blow up in Trumps face and take down his second term before it even gets started. Trusting Elon was a big mistake, he has zero invested in the outcome. Trump could do what needs doing by using his agencies heads to do it.

The people that work for the federal government deserve this treatment- they are awful.
This is exactly what draining the swamp looks like.

If I risk my life to cross several states and track down the man that hurt your family, did I destroy wealth or take it from you? If tracking down this bad man caused me to miss my own wife and son for several weeks while staying in shitty hotels across the country all alone, just so I can bring him in "destroyed your wealth" then you can be free to deny my services if the time comes.

The problem you (and posters like you) have is thinking the entire federal government is the post office, or the DMV, or FEMA.
I'm all for massive cuts to the agencies and programs that have bloated our government, but not ALL Feds are created equal and not ALL are some leeches feeding off your tax dollars.
That mindset needs to end

"write it down for what purpose? "
The purpose is to keep your JOB! If you cannot what is tasked of you then you need to be terminated. You have been tasked to send a report each week of what you do, if you don't , you will be terminated. Piss and moan all you want. That's what you deserve! If you don't like it, find another job.
You are not guaranteed a job just because you breath pussy.

Your job destroys wealth. I’m inferring that you are maybe a Marshal? Law enforcement is an essential part of government.
If you tracked down any violent criminals last week, you might consider adding that to your response. But I would be very specific and not just regurgitate your job description.

Maybe not a marshal because you aren’t very bright. Nobody said nor implied all govt agencies are operated with the same level of inefficiency. But there are inefficiencies in every govt dept.

This believe it or not explains a lot cubbies I don’t claim to know everything but I have been in positions to see and deal with people exactly like you. There is a time to question things and a time to put your head down and get to work and get the job done. People like yourself can’t get out of your own way because they question anything and everything and this becomes exhausting for the people around people like yourself. Like I said I don’t know you but I have seen your posts over the years and I can make the assumption that if things have not gone the way you have wanted then it is everyone else’s fault and not your own.
