Or do the Dems triple down on it? If not what direction do they go after Trump forms a new populist party?
The thing I believe is this:
there are a lot of Democratic politicians who aren't locked into an ideology, but instead want to win and hold power. The current direction isn't working.
Trump's obnoxious and crude, and proof that we care more about the message than the messenger. Most soccer moms find him offensive, but I bet a lot will rather him than what the Dems offer currently. They don't want trannies at the libraries, they don't want thugs rampaging in their streets, they don't want to feel like they're in another country and can't speak the language when they go to the stores.
Hillary got some of their votes because she's a woman and a lot of that seemed far away. It's a lot closer now, and Biden's creepier than Trump.

I think the Democrats fracture and the socialist come up with their own party. That cancer will not be dead,but will be contained for now.

When trump wins, the violence from the left will be a million times worse. That will be when trump needs to activate the insurrection act. He'll need to send troops into blue cities and stop the mass violence. He'll also need to take down media and social media for a while, in order to stop them from fanning the flames and inciting their 10s of millions of followers.

I can't remember the exact poll but an hour ago Redeye Radio cited a poll done today where the majority of people polled said that the country would be more united after the election if Trump wins than if Biden wins.

This they will say Biden/Harris tried to be too moderate and push further to the Bernie/AOC/Stalin left. They will abandon the "middle" all together and go straight to Socialism/communism.
Of course they will riot, burn shite and sky scream a lot in the months after the election.
