Yes. It is absolutely no place for children.

It is basically burlesque, with folks wearing the "wrong" clothes." Is anyone actually SURPRISED that flamboyant burlesque performers engage in attention-seeking behavior?

Attention-seeking behavior from children? I'm not surprised, just disappointed.

If gender is just a social construct, why bother taking drugs and having elective surgeries to change your appearance?

Case rested. Kids don't need to attend burlesque shows, obviously, whether the performers are men dressed as women, or actual women.

I actually like Hank and am glad he posts here.

But he reminds me of tons of well to do conservatives/libertarians I know that are timid about proclaiming the absence of art/value/virtue in things the left is pushing so as not to be deemed rubes.

There is nothing of value in local drag club performers taking their act to libraries, and we shouldn't be afraid to say so. It doesn't make you small minded or unworldly to acknowledge that.

It is amazing how simple this issue is, yet people want to make it so unbelievably complicated. Hell, Hank showed it in his first post.

I don't think there is anyone out there that thinks that a Burlesque dancer should read stories to kids at the library in full burlesque wear. Same goes for a drag queen. If a drag queen wants to read books to kids, go for it. Don't do it in your performance outfits, those are not appropriate for children. That is, however, not their primary goal if it is a hill they are willing to die on is wearing performance attire while reading.

This.

Attended many in my younger, wilder youth, and this idiot is just grasping at straws.

Drag shows aren't necessarily a monolith, but in no way , shape or form are they for kiddos.

The board should make a collective decision to completely shun AggieHank and his idiocy.

He drags this board into the sewer with his Narcissistic, contrarian BS and outright lies.

Why are you such a bigot?

Of course, he apparently also believes that it's common for straight people to attend drag shows, so who the hell knows what's going on in there.

He's probably right

Drag shows are hilarious fun. In candor, I AM surprised that an educated, worldly person has not attended a drag show. Just like I would think that most people have attended a burlesque show or a Vegas stage show. I don't see anything odd about any of them, and I would be very surprised if 95% of my acquaintances have not done all three.

Different demographic, I suppose.

Back in the 70s and 80s Nola had drag queen show bars, and it was some funny shite to be sure. I remember when Georgia played in the Sugar Bowl in 80,81, and 82 all these upper middle class house wives from small town south Georgia just packed these places while they were there. It was like they were trying to get some tips on how to get their old man to take them to bed like they used to.

The people who take their kids to such an event or dismiss it as a personal decision to take kids to such a wholly inappropriate setting are idiots and virtu-signaling narcissists who want everyone to see how Socially evolved they are.

Where has anyone in this thread suggested otherwise?

We are discussing reading a children's book to kids at a library, while wearing outlandish clothing.

Haha, no, I've personally known more than one dragon in my lifetime.

This was a long time ago and they simply wanted to be left alone.

These Demons are a whole different generation.

Serious question. Did you see the two photos on the second page? I think that we can all agree that the second outfit was entirely inappropriate for children's story time.

Do you have a problem with that first outfit? If so, why?

Why do circus clowns wear their makeup when performing for kids? Certainly they could do magic tricks and tie balloon animals in street clothes, right?

Because they are PERFORMERS. It is their NATURE.
This makes me wonder about something.

Some kids are creeped out by clowns. It's not surprising - loud, boisterous individuals in freakish makeup and clothes, behaving strangely, usually with loud, unnatural voices and overstated physical movements. It can be unsettling, especially to small and/or more introverted children.

Are parents of those kids allowed to opt out of entertainment that involves clowns? Of course I don't know if something such as "Clown Story Time" exists in the public schools, but if it did, could a child excuse themselves from it?

Would everyone please do the board a favor and put Hank on ignore?

He's become a sad parody of lies and crying for attention at this point.

My best buddy is a lawyer in his 50s. To this day, he is terrified of clowns.

I absolutely agree that parents of kids with Coulrophobia should have the option of opting-out.

You still don’t get it. No one has a problem with adults attending drag shows or a burlesque show. The problem most sane adults have is exposing children to these shows and encouraging children to participate, including shoving dollars bills in dancer’s underwear.

Different morals and principles, I suppose
