Again, we shouldn't even be in this position. Trump promised he'd go away. He promised we'd never hear from him again.

Oh yeah? When?

And Trump is the one to stop all that?

when you have exhausted the planning techniques and gifting exemptions.

Dude. I get it. You thought there was some magic trust that shields the wealthy from estate taxes. It just isn’t so. You had to die in 2010 if you have “real wealth” and wanted to completely avoid the estate tax.

And Trump is the one to stop all that?

I didn’t say that. I said the party of the person that occupies the White House matters to people with wealth.

For what it’s worth, trump did double the estate tax exemption with the TCJA. It also lowered the individual rates.

It will look like Desantis is even more narrow minded than trump...and is only staying quiet because trump said mean things about him.

I like Desantis. He's a great governor and I wish he was the governor of NC. I hope that if he's pissed off at trump, he'll just vocally attack trump, and not be a passive aggressive bitch who stays quiet when another state wants to take away one of his residents on a purely political indictment. Not asking for him to try to go head to head with ny. Not asking him to mobilize his law enforcement to prevent trump from being arrested, because that would be dumb. Just asking him to not be quiet.

Because what is happening with trump will most likely happen to him as well if he wins the presidency in 2028. Gov agencies will put every second of his life under a microscope in order to try to find something to charge him with. I believe he'll also suffer the endless harassment from the gov.

No, I didn't.

Come on, Barry. You should know this.

Maybe not, but the context of the conversation you jumped into did. Appreciate you helping me to make my point, though.

DeSantis better not say shite in defense of Trump… the prudent and calculated thing to do is say nothing, don’t even acknowledge it’s going on… this a matter between the Feds and a private citizen…

This is the state government, not the feds. And apathy is not an admirable quality in a presidential candidate.

Maybe he should you know wait for something to actually transpire instead of screaming about a bunch of speculation. Kind of like grown ups do.

Oh yes you do. Every time you purchase gas, groceries, apply for a mortgage, send your kids to school, walk the streets of most of our major cities, purchase a gun, carry your gun with you, and VOTE, to name just a few, you are living your life in a way that is significantly impacted by who is in the White House. But you do not realize that???

What do you care what he does? You’ll vote for Biden again anyway even though he thinks you’re neither clean or articulate.

If DeSantis navigates this challenge well with a deft hand, he could really use it to his advantage.

He can't which is why it's a folly to take on Trump.

He could be using all of this to solidify himself for 2028.

He can't win the general without the MAGA base. He can't afford to lose any them which makes it incredibly difficult to run aggressively against Trump. That's just reality.

He can't come out and call Trump a loser like his supporters do here. It would be the end of him.

But being passive is just as
risky for different reasons.

The people advising Desantis to wait are smart, people pushing him are just anti Trump.

This whole fight is the Democrat plan to hurt both guys by dividing the party.

The only real chance Republicans had was to have Desantis get behind Trump or Trump behind Desantis.

NeverTrumpers in Republican party would have never been on board with unity if they had to get behind Trump. They would rather lose and that's what will happen whether it's Trump or Desantis and NeverTrump is fine with that. They were fine with it 2020, why would anything change.

Democrats are playing Republicans like a fiddle as usual.

All of these legal shenanigans are unfolding on a timeline set by Democrats and it will stay that way until November 2024.

They are in position to completely frick Republicans and they will, over and over because Republicans can't get their shite together.

Probably won’t have too… the other side split… won’t take as many votes this time around…

I’ve often thought the same thing.

2028 would be ripe for DeSantis.

The Democrats would be fighting each other as one off their bench would need to establish him/herself. Eight years of Biden would be brutal, people would be ready for a change. DeSantis could avoid the Trump minefield as Trump would be resolved one way or the other by then.

I think he has an easier path in five years.
