It's interesting how they defend them given their extreme views on gays and women. It's cognitive dissonance.
I was raised in a conservative home but in my early adult years, I became more liberal and worked very hard to understand opposing views. I was deeply interested in fairness for all people, regardless of their religion, creed or political views. I tried to approach it from a spirit of kindness and with intellectual vigor.
But as I've aged, I'm beginning to feel much more hopeless about polyannish views of the world. Humans are clannish. We may march in the streets together, attend sporting events together, but mostly, we want to live in communities that made up of people like ourselves. We don't want to go home to a community that looks like a public event.
I live in a community that's made of of mostly white, college educated professionals within an income bracket similar to my own. Mostly Christian and Jewish. There are families and grandchildren. Our values are similar. Would I feel as comfortable in a community with a high percentage of Muslims or same sex couples? Probably not. Not anymore than they'd feel comfortable living in a community of evangelical Christians. It's just the way things are.

I surmise that 90% of lefties do not recognize that the end goal is Marxism/ communism. They are entirely too emotionally driven to see past any trigger word. When they do entertain the idea, they don’t think it through, only reaching the rainbows and unicorns for all part.
The remaining 10% want Marxism but are keenly aware they must lie about it. They will occasionally let slip their true intentions.
