I wonder how well Indiana will hold up for 4 quarters against Ohio State's size and strength.

Bucks are a hard hitting bunch.
Not a good hire. Yurachek is doomed.

I will say this for Silverfield. He's a decent guy that will run a clean program. Given enough NIL, he'll get some good players. But replicating his win total at Memphis in the SEC is a whole different thing.

He's a poor strategist. Makes a lot of stupid decisions during games.

Happy Thanksgiving!
If anyone should fold their program, it's us. Haven't won a conference title in 36 years. Doesn't look like one is coming any time soon.

Pretty good at everything else in the SEC, but football means the most to the majority of fans.

WTH is wrong with you?
I've had a long career working for large and smaller corporations. I founded and ran my own company for ten years before selling.

One thing I've learned along the way is you're generally better off working with a group of trusted partners in a smaller company than taking the bigger dollars at a large, soulless corporation and allowing your ego to play too large of a role in your decision. There are always challenges, and you need to be with good people in order to navigate those challenges.

My father used to call those "men you can ride the river with." You could trust them in rough waters.

Coaching may be somewhat different, but the principles here are the same. He's not with one of the power programs, but he is at a school where he can consistently win and be with people that will truly value him and work with him during down periods. He lives in a charming community. He makes more than enough money. There's no reason to leave other than perhaps his ego. That's a poor basis for sound decision making.

This makes sense if you don't know anything about this team.

This is not the "if it can't be done this year, it can't be done" year.

Well, I likely don't know as much as you do about the team. But I know the types of doubts that can creep into a person's head at points of failure. I've seen in the organizations I've managed for 30 years. Losing a big deal or contract or a critical game can open the door for doubt in leaders at any level. Maybe not with Lane, and maybe there won't be a big loss. We'll see.

He had the talent last year, he just shite the bed

A solid team, but not at the level of Ohio State. A lot of talent, but not as much talent. You need to go at least two deep and maybe three deep at a lot of key positions.
I don't believe Silverfield is a good fit for Arkansas. I'd much rather have Chesney. My instincts tell me he'd be a great hire that would stay at Arkansas a long time.

Memphis has done well in a weak league. If they were still in a league with some of their former members, Louisville, Cincy and SMU, they'd be middle of the pack.
My guess is Lane will see how far he can go with this Ole Miss team and that may have some bearing on if he believes he can win it all at Ole Miss.

If they faced Ohio State or A&M and were soundly beaten, he may start to wonder if he can assemble enough talent at Ole Miss to get to the next level. He may think he's taken Ole Miss as far as he can. It's hard for me to see him being satisfied with that, but there's also a strong case for having a good job for life in a really nice town.
This doesn't appear to be true. No one in Memphis is reporting it.

Memphis has become a hotbed for poaching football coaches. Someone should probably try to steal their AD. He is apparently pretty good at spotting talent. Fuente, Norvell and silverfield. I know the first 2 havent worked out so well but hell, still not a bad run for a school in that conference.

He didn't hire any of those coaches. He's new.
Getting in league with devil when you're with PE.

To your point, it's all about ROI for these guys. You can bet if a league isn't performing, they'll start looking at the teams in the league that aren't performing and will demand changes. Coaches, maybe even dropping teams from leagues and replacing them with teams that perform better.

They'll have their tentacles in everything.
This game was played in Memphis for many years. I remember going to the '79 game as a teen. Great atmosphere.
What's sad is a grown man writing this type of puerile non-sense.
MLB does the same thing with their "city" uniforms. Puke.
Even their regular unis are garbage. Had one of the best looks in the NFL and destroyed it.

Over 10,000 alumni in Memphis alone. Pretty easy drive to Starkville.
