I’ve been a Christian since I was 12 and was raised, on and off, in Southern Baptist churches. I can remember hearing that Israel are “God’s chosen people” and that we always have to be allied with them. From my perspective, the scriptures are pretty vague on that. What do you think, and please give Biblical support for your beliefs?

From a Catholic perspective, this is not true.

Yes, Hebrews/Jews were chosen by God to bring in the Law and the covenantial relationship with God. They prepared the world for Christ coming into the world and dying for our sins.

Now we are under a new covenant in Jesus’ blood, and all are called to this new covenant.

The support for Israel is because they are a western style (judeo-greek-roman-christian) modern liberal democratic society, whose interests generally align with our own. They are a far from perfect ally, but they ARE an ally, and the alternative ia much worse.

There is no biblical evidence Christians should support the modern nation of Israel.

as I posted above, literally right there in the book of Genesis

quote:

I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. 3I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you; and all the families of the earth will be blessed through you.”

you should try opening the Bible before making idiotic comments.and showing your ignorance

for America or for the world?

I'd agree on the latter but I don't agree that supporting Israel's wars is better for the average American citizen.

I think our country would be more prosperous today if we had never went to war in the middle east post 1985

Better question....

Should we protect the only group of people who live somewhat normal in a land full of savages who wan to kill us all?

Well, Ted Cruz said it’s our Christian duty to fight for Israel.

And Mark Levin expects the US to kowtow to Bibi. Then there’s that Huckabee fella…

It’s 100% in there. The Jewish people.

It’s not saying you have to worship or support the Jewish government or their leader. It’s simply stating that the Jewish nation (the people) are GOD’s chosen.

So what does that mean? When other nations are openly trying to suicide and genocide Jewish people, you stand in direct opposition of those seeking to do them harm any way possible.

But many reject Christ? Yes, so do many in America but we still protect those Americans.
When Christ sets foot in the Mount of Olives again, those who reject Him will be rightfully judged.

It's right outcome for wrong motivations.

Divine Law. You prosper because of your support.

If you fear God and you know He has a covenant with Israel. Why would you not support?

You attack Israel, you attack Him. When you could simply aid and support and be blessed.

You don't believe in God then this will all seem foolish but it's reality.

The pasty Eastern European Jews that run Israel are not the same as the middle eastern tribes in the Bible. Does Netanyahu whose real name is Mileikowsky have any DNA that relates back to Abraham? Doubt it.

Sure. I'll play. True followers of Christ want His will to be done in all things. He wants Israel to turn from its sin and seek Him. Despite their refusing, He has still cared and protected Israel. We are his instrument. We have prospered because of it. "I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you." Why you think our quality of life has exponentially exploaded last 80 odd years when our economy had seemingly flatlined? This isn't really a question of "Do you like Israel". They have a covenant with God. There is a divine law between God and the nations of the earth. Bless them, you are blessed. Curse them, you are cursed. The end.

God also stuck them in captivity numerous, numerous times.

Additionally the modern secular nation of Israel isn’t the same as Gods chosen people.

Why is a nation/people that rejected God via Jesus still the chosen people?

Or any European nation?

How has it worked out for those nations? Egypt might be the only one still around but its not prospering.

Nonsense. It's the same nation. Prophesied to he reconstituted.

Israel has way more power and influence than they should.

Hear the word “fatigue” used around here.

People have Israel, Bibi, Cruz, Huckabee, Graham, Shapiro, Levine FATIGUE.

I think the Bible says something like smite the Jews at your own risk.

I don’t hate Israel. I’m good with Israel. They are overall our best ally in the region.

I just don’t think we should have to go to war for Israel when it’s not in our interests.
