i'm onboard with whatever they're proposing
also i agree. too many people get trapped by credit cards. yes, a lot if it is due to their own dumbassery but still

Is AOC gonna get to go on the field trip to Dallas? Is she gonna help interview some of the "witnesses"?

Interest rate caps
Minorities can’t get loans
Government guarantees payments
People take out loans they can’t afford
Student loan disaster repeat

I would support caps on interest rates if we also had the British system where you owe a debt and Bailiffs show up and confiscate all your shite if you don't pay.

This isn't a problem the Gov should step in to try to fix. It will hurt people more than it helps as CC companies will get too selective in who they give credit to and many people won't have access to credit they rely on for emergency situations.

Risk/return is as fundamental to finance as supply/demand are to economics.

If you don't want high interest rates, don't be a high risk borrower.

Caps will just limit financiers allowing people with higher risk to get credit. I’m zero percent surprised these two have no clue how risk impacts rates.

It's predictable that people will get taken advantage of but that's no reason to screw a fellow human being over.

If they can't police this amongst themselves, then there is no choice but for government to step in and get involved. I support that 100%.

So, do we think the CC companies are suddenly going to make less money? No, they are going to frick the customers some other way. If your a dipshit to carry credit card debt, you deserve your 22% interest.

I wish that were true but when an 18-19 year-old kid can gett a CC card with a $5,000 limit yet they have no credit history I don't see too much selectivity there.

Lots of “christians” in this thread crying about blatant usury getting curtailed.

Credit cards are an abomination and should be banned outright

Fine.

750 FICO scores for a credit card.

They should cap at 9.5% over prime
