I miss Johnny Carson and Craig Ferguson

Remember when late night TV was fun and interesting? I can't even watch anymore, it disgusts me so much.
Jimmy Kimmel threatens Fox News host in monologue
I can't watch him (and I loved him on the Man Show), or Seth Meyers or Stephen Colbert.
I'm all for having fun, but these guys treat anyone with a different political view than theirs with deeply personal attacks, not television comedy. I guess if the networks and advertisers are okay with alienating a portion of the audience, that's their business, but I don't have to partake in it.

Johnny Carson re-runs are on METV. I think it comes on at 10:30 which is cool. I'm not going to waste my time with those arse clowns you mentioned.

Johnny Carson could offend but the audience wasn't always sure who was being offended so they would all laugh.
Carson had wit. These clowns nowadays just have agendas.

Johnny Carson is for you younger folks. I remember Jack Paar doing The Tonight Show.
He had a lot of educational videos. I learned how spaghetti is grown and harvested.

I miss early (NBC) Letterman. College students would stay in on Thurs and Friday nights to watch him before going out.
His original morning show was the tits.

Craig Ferguson was very underappreciated

It's the difference between being acerbic and being vile.
I understand how one can be acerbic and entertaining. I don't understand how vile can be entertaining - especially on a nightly basis.

Yea I feel like everyone is trying to recreate the daily show at this point. I stick to Conan

One of these days I'm going to be old just like you, and when I do, I hope to be as irreverent and tongue-in-cheek.

Bring back this man...he has no time for politics when he is busy trying to get in guests pants and drinking

Johnny Carson comes on Antenna TV at 9:00pm. I can't remember the channel number off the top of my head.

Craig very rarely picked on politicians, but when he did his favorite one was Bill Clinton. I think this is why he was passed over as Hillary was going to be the POTUS and Craig doing Bill Clinton cigar jokes was not going to happen.

It's 26.2 in the New Orleans area over the air.

I quit watching the late night hosts as of about a year ago because the majority of them are becoming social crusaders. I'm disappointed to hear Kimmel has also gone this route. If you want to be socially outspoken, fine. But keep it to your personal time off the air if you want to keep your viewership. I do agree that Craig Ferguson was the best on the air for the last 10 or so years before he left CBS.

Best thing about turning 60 was knowing that people think of you as being old as dirt. Thus, you don't worry about trying to appear intelligent any longer. You just say frick it and tell it like it is.

There was a great lineage with Parr, Allen and Carson.
It's declined since then.

I remember the spaghetti. My mom and sister argued with dad for quite a while

As do I....these current late night folks are boring, not funny and could care less about their politics
