I was in Panama City at the Bay Point bill fish tournament all weekend. All I saw were Trump flags everywhere. The people I talked with were mainly Trump with a handful for DeSantis. No one in my family has changed support to another candidate yet.

Yeah, that family sounds overextended in a bad way.

It'll fade. Just give it some time.

The only rationale is that "the DEMs" feel like their best chance with Biden is vs Trump ... replay of 2020 ... Trump getting the DEM base out.

Exactly.

No one believes Biden is/was this super popular guy that enticed millions of people who normally wouldn't bother to vote to go to the polls.

Trump made them go to the polls. To vote against him.

I think they knew before most that Trump was probably going to beat Biden so they needed to take him out.

I don’t know about “probably” but Biden is terrible, so they have to know it’s possible.

But that’s why they won’t run Biden. They help Trump win the primary while damaging him with the rest of the country, then run Newsome.

Not family per se. But, I'm seeing the opposite. The friends who were talking Desantis a month or two ago, have stopped. I think Desantis supporters, in general, are suffering from a low moment. Who knows if it rebounds, but just reading the tea leaves of my circle, it sounds like there's an assumption that he can't win.

This has been my experience as well in the real world. This board is the only place I see support for DeSantis holding strong.

I wonder if the Dems realize that the witch hunt is helping him in the primary?

I’m not sure that it is.

There are quite a few former Trump voters that won’t vote for him this time as a result of these charges.

As noted before, there are posters on this board that will refuse to vote for Trump under any circumstances (their words, not mine). Crazy times.

In my experience this board is not typical of the real world or at least the circles that I run in.

Most of my family is not yet paying attention. They start paying attention around the debates. That is usually how it goes.

Where? I've been to 36 states in the last year. Most folks want to see it play out, for whatever reason. There's plenty of support out there for DeSantis.

Plenty of idiots who buy Trump's bullshite, too, of course.

Maybe.

Then again, perhaps here people are unfettered. Fear of being ostracized etc. can be a powerful motivator to keep your thoughts to yourself, and keep your mouth closed.

I had a chat with a chic one time that was “far left” on everything via FB, IG, etc. I asked her if she really felt that way. She told me no, but that in the art community, she would lose her business if she didn’t say those things. She later told me that she is privately a staunch conservative.

Again, you may be totally correct. However, who knows what people really believe anymore. Coercion is real. Don’t believe me, just look at “masking” during Covid. Most people hated them, but wore them anyway.

It is the same ones, no one has been added to the Team Destanis. And even then the legit ones that were on Team Trump, that moved over early, isn't many. probably about 5ish. The rest were never Trumpers and board Lefties enjoying being feed the upvotes from the Team Desantis "conservatives"

Weird.

My extended family only talked about Trump and about how abysmally Brandon is performing.

Ron was never even mentioned. I guess the 75+ people from 10 different states from Florida to Iowa to California weren't an accurate sampling though, obviously.

This is bullshite, of course. There are several who were Trump voters who moved over, and most who weren't Trump voters weren't "Team DeSantis" until they saw what he's been doing for Florida.

Totally. And the hundreds from 36 different states who are talking about him aren't either.
