I had to explain fracking to my wife last night.

Did you know a fracking well has the same inherent risk as a conventional well?
Did you also know that one fracking well can cover on average the same area of 40 conventional wells? That is on average 40 less wells drilled to access the same amount of O&G as a conventional well.
Fracking wells usually drill 1.5-2 miles down and then proceed horizontally through the shale formation. Shale is like a sponge rather than a reservoir. It's a lot easier to access O&G from a reservoir like convectional wells. Fracking wells require the injection of fracking fluids to break up the O&G formations which allows them to be release to the surface.
So why does the left hate fracking?
Simple.
They hate fracking because 80% of them do not understand it and they are told to hate it. The 20% on the left that do understand it are advocates for "green energy". They are advocates for selling energy that competes with O&G energy. This 20% realizes that fracking technology increases O&G production and is beneficial to the American economy and allows consumers to purchase cheap affordable energy. This compete directly with green energy and lowers their profits.
So that big bad boogie man that is making your gasoline cheap for family trips and commuting and making natural gas cheap for heating your home during cold winters cheap, thank fracking.

I remember documentaries showing people lighting the gas mix coming out of their fawcetts. It was a sham that looked like Michael Moore production than a real documentary.
More fear porn from the left leaning globalists.

Hope you got to do some drilling.

well I've never understood how they make 90 degree turns underground...

I don’t have to explain fricking to her.

I don’t remember the name of the movie, but there was a movie with John Krasinski and Matt Damon that looked to completely demonize fracking. Before the movie came out, their entire premise was completely f*cking debunked and they had to go back and re-shoot major parts of the movie to not look like complete f*cking morons.

I don’t know shite about fracking.

$40 oil is to blame for killing fracking, nothing else.

Look up horizontal directional drilling. You’ll be amazed at how flexible steel pipe is over long distances.

Oh... tell us more and don’t leave out the details

As to fraccing, I can see how it MIGHT cause a bit of subsidence over a VERY long period of time. I also don't see that doing much harm as compared to the benefits it produces.

Simply put...hydraulic fracturing is a process where underground shale formations (rock) are "fractured" to release the natural gas within them. We used to get almost all of our natural gas offshore, from rigs in the Gulf. As a result of the fracking revolution, we have a much more plentiful supply of natural gas, which has led to much cheaper natural gas, and as a result more of our electricity is generated from natural gas (than coal for example) and the subsequent decrease in Greenhouse Gas emissions like CO2.
Eliminating fracking is a REALLY BIG DEAL for everyone.

Its not a 10' long 90 degree turn, it takes 100' or so

Do you mean this in a Battlestar Galactica fake TV profanity way, or in the oil and gas terminology way?

Thanks to all that answered my "question".

So why does the left hate fracking?
Not much different than climate change. Most people that are convinced it's real, and believe in "science" have ZERO knowlege of even basic Thermodynamics.
Indoctrination is real. Dunning-Krueger were right.

We've been fracking for a 100 years. every well drilled is fracked in some way shape or form. Only idiots are against fracking.
