He's probably a maintenance contractor. Those guys don't really make a ton of money usually.

I agree with your post except how you threw Trump in there. Do you think inflation happened over the last 3 years? Do you think spending achieved unsustainable levels in the last 3 years?
Our country’s spending problem has been a problem for a very long time, and it happened under Republicans and Democrats, and neither party seems willing to tackle spending for fear they will not keep their cushy political job.

Serious question? Is the plant worker a maintenance/turn around guy who drags up in the fall to hunt? I have friends and relatives that still do this. Unemployment benefits suck.

I stopped reading as soon as the OP said someone got medicine for the flu...
Post is mostly made up.

My sister and her husband make decent money and live modestly. He works a great job in Sterlington at the plant and she is a teacher.
Combined income is about 80,000 a year I suppose.
Teacher + Plant baw making $80K...what kinda plant baw you got there? does not compute.

Bet that cell phone, cable, internet, car, nail salon, etc bills all get paid without crying. BTW there is no medicine to really treat the flu except Tamiflu and they shoulda just skipped it and let it run it’s course if the couldn’t afford it.

I'm seeing all the responses from those who think it is not responsible to have 3 kids on $80K. If you're married, don't have a fertility problem, and have less than 3 kids, you've bought the big plan for self-extermination and/or are just plain lazy and selfish. These parents were more generous than average to have 3 and should have more. You selfish people who choose to limit are a main reason why this country is failing.

They should have as many kids as they want, but their family should stop whining about the cost of unneeded medicine on this forum.

Dont disagree with you. Just wanted to add.

move to a state with jobs

Man, I can definitely relate. I taught in Concordia Parish and Union Parish for 8 years, but it was tough making it on that salary. I made a career change because I was tired of scratching by each month.
A couple of things though: Sterlington is in Ouachita, which pays at least 50K per year. I know this for a fact because I almost took a job there. Her health insurance is some of the best in the state, so I don’t understand why she paid so much for medicine. I’m sure our plans were similar and I paid like $30 for TamiFlu. Her husband should be making more than 30K per year, working at the plant, which brings their household income higher than the 80K you believe they’re making. I don’t think you said where they live, but unless they’re in Frenchman’s Bend, Sterlington isn’t that expensive. I can tell you though, my wife and I made around 90K per year before I left education and there were times when it got tough. We were always fine unless emergencies came up, and they often did. It’s fine to a point where taxation is out of control though. I think the sales tax in Ouachita is around 12%. Add in state tax, federal tax, property tax, etc., and half of your income goes to taxes.
Hopefully her husband can work his way into some promotions. I feel like her contribution of 50K is an adequate contribution to the family.

Median household and family are not the same thing, but I get your point.

I think the OP should be called out for groceries going up 50 percent. I am a freaking geek at this kind of thing and I am showing a 3 percent increase over the last four years on my grocery bill.

It’s gratifying to see some folks tell other folks how to live their lives and what kind of family they’re entitled to have.
Posted on 11/18/19 at 6:06 pm to 187undercover
I skipped everything after the first page.
My wife and I are both low level grunts in manufacturing, make about the same as the alleged family in the OP... Which I down voted.
Granted, it's tough with kids. You live within your means, cut the cable, buy cheap phones, drive used vehicles.
Wages have nothing to do with what the company can afford or stock market... It's all supply and demand. The plant we work at is the top paying manufacturer in the area, has been for 20 years... That means that, other than annual increases based on inflation rate.. cost of living increases.. I haven't had a raise in 20 years. And I won't get one until another, higher paying, employer opens up shop in this area. Then my employer will have to compete for my time. That's reality. There are booming areas within a couple hundred miles where I could make twice as much, but the cost of living is higher and price of homes is 4x the nice house I have and can afford.
They can live within their means and get comfy or go into a field that pays better.. or move.
Whining and playing the blame game helps no one.
That is all.

Does seem on its face a sizeable exaggeration, less and except perhaps certain items that I guess are susceptible to acute price increase.
