Hell, they’re saving money by not paying trans soldiers to get treatment and sit out 4-5 months, so I imagine there’s some other areas they can cut back/out that will help save money, but not hurt the overall defense budget.
Actually its several surgeries with lengthy recovery times. Its why Trump did not want them in the first place, its a great way to transition free, get paid while at it and not do shat. Actually a huge incentive to want to join.....for all the wrong reasons.

The f-35 program is now projected to top 2 trillion.
An f-22 unit cost is six times what it was originally budgeted, coming in at 361 million dollars.
A drone is a buck fiddy.
Seriously satellites and drones. Stop with all this conventional shat, unless you want endless wars where you can fund both sides to fight each other................oh yeah, nevermind.

After all the bloat, incompetence and fraud that has been uncovered, why would you believe the biggest piece of the budget should get a pass? Smaller and better and no more lost billions.

Doesn't sound like we are going to be bankrolled NATO going forward. I wonder how many bases we close in europe.

We spend more than the next 9 countries combined.
How strong is it that you would like us to be?

And it has already been proven defense contractors are scam artists not being held accountable.

quote:As a young man in the Navy, many, many years ago, I got a small glimpse of how the DOD wasted tax dollars. As a Hospital Corpsman, I got tasked with purchased stuff for a hospital. Ran over to PSD to get on their computers to find the shite we needed. Found a whole bunch of suppliers carrying the same damn thing. Found the cheapest supplier, filled out the paperwork, and turned it in. Got called back over to PSD the next day, and was told I'd have to re-do everything. That's when I learned that THE ENTIRE MILITARY HAD TO BUY FROM A VENDOR THAT WAS MINORITY/WOMAN OWNED, REGARDLESS OF THE PRICE! Seriously, it did not matter if the item was priced 5x higher, if the lower priced vendor was not minority/woman owned, and another vendor was and carried the same damn thing, you had to buy from them. My young E-4 arse got a serious wake up call that day, when I learned just how screwed up we were when it came to spending tax dollars.
There is a lot of waste and bloat in the military. Getting rid of it won't make the military less effective or lethal.

Im with you to a degree. The real issue isn't the amount spent on defense, which is a fraction of the budget (you could spend $0 on defense and our national deficit would still be bigger than our current defense budget)
The biggest issue is our procurement process is fricking retarded. We send shite all over the country so that every congressional district can get a taste of that sweet federal money. We overspend on high tech while producing paltry amounts of relatively cheap artillery shells and medium range missiles, which have been proven to be the real difference makers in the Russian/Ukraine war
Our military right now is built to beat a bunch of cavemen insurgents at very low casualty rates on our side. Against a peer adversary we would get our arse whipped
Edit: Frankly, they need to increase pay to enlist by a lot (~25-30%). Their salaries are now on par with entry level private sector work when you factor in the housing/meal credits, but it is still less than the bureaucrat jobs DOGE is cutting. We have had a massive recruiting shortage for nearly 2 decades across all military branches. We have active duty officers leading reserve units now, in a war its unclear we would be able to mobilize our reserves in a timely manner

Because we shouldn’t be budgeting for fraud, waste and abuse.

We can do more with less. Across the board. It reminds me of my time as an industrial electrician. Everything is time and material, with a “budget.” Almost no hard money jobs. What does that get you? 10 retards and one “blueprint reader” doing the job of one real electrician and a helper. In an effort to prevent one of the retards from injuring themselves, they implement retard-proof safety measures, which greatly reduce the effectiveness of the real electricians. This is the plan. More retards = more manhours and longer job duration = more money.
This is a perfect representation of American society as a whole. Whereas we used to be known for our unified desire to be the best, now we are marked by our collective greed, laziness, and hypocrisy.
It’s time to cull. Across the board. Collectively and individually. Making America Great Again means making people great again. For further instructions, consult the Holy Bible. Preferably the NASB 95 or the ESV. Start in Matthew.

He said he wants to cut the budget not the greatness. Stop paying 90K for a ziplock bags worth of ball bearings. Stop paying 5X the amount you agreed on when you authorized another plane, ship or missile.

They realized they just didn't need all of that money if they just get toilet seats for $15 from Home Depot, instead of $16,000/per, from MIC contractors.

Robcrzy there are many ways:
First and foremost, do not let the Navy build ship classes without testing the powerhouse.
The US wasted a ton of money on ships.
There are about 40 items to add to the list.
The Navy will need to replace those ships in the near future.

Have you seen what they spent the last 4 years spending the DOD budget on? If not, go back and search for all the Gay/Trans recruitment marketing. What other grifts are built in to those trillions?
Posted on 2/19/25 at 8:04 pm to Robcrzy
After they trim the fate the new streamlined dollars will buy more than the old 'waste plus" dollars.
You cannot do static analysis on shite like this.

DOGE has found waste in every government operation. Why do you think the military is somehow different?
