We need to get out of this tribalistic mindset.
There certainly is a two-party system, but it's not as advertised. There's the DNC which is the Marxist Wing and there's the GOPe which is the Controlled Opposition Wing. Together they form the Establishment Uniparty. Standing against them, are the few (mostly Republicans) who are the vastly outnumbered minority but still never waver. Talking about your Rand Paul and Anna Paulina Luna types.
The MSM Propaganda Machine Complex and State-sponsored Narrative Control Apparatus are certainly majority dim, but plenty of "conservatives" contribute as well. See Faux News.

“Dems control everything” is such a weak copout.
Just accept the fact that “conservatives”, and especially MAGA, are some of the most insane, gullible people in our electorate.
You should consider what that says about you.
*I think religion plays a role here. Religiosity has a positive correlation with conservative viewpoints, and religion primes one to believe some crazy shite.

Yes, and of course there have always been a lot of people with a religious worldview (given to metaphor, symbols, mythic explanations, lots of vibes, etc.), but it used to be more evenly distributed politically and it's a lot more sorted now.

I don't think anyone should hold a strong belief about what happened there. Manafort was compromised and working off debt when he passed polling info to GRU so his intent is hard to read, Trump dangled pardons, followed through with pardoning everyone convicted. It'll take decades and Trump long being out of politics to have a good sense of it. The dossier was worth jumping off early.
