CNN is clearly insinuating that the referenced layoffs are directly related to coronavirus. Tampa Bay Times is cited in the underlying CNN business report as having laid off 11 journalists. But the Tampa Times article also includes this interesting passage:
"The layoffs were not related to advertising losses caused by shutdowns from the coronavirus," Executive Editor Mark Katches said in the note.
