I think a gun in every classroom is extreme, but I think some sort of air marshal type program is completely feasible.
Why can't schools designate a handful of volunteer teachers/coaches as "marshals" and pay them an extra $500 - $1000 per year to undergo basic weapons training and keep a gun in a locked safe? Hell, we have fire extinguishers for fires. We can have human garbage extinguishers for garbage humans, too.
Why can't we also provide jobs to some of our retired vets to be armed security guards at public schools?
To me, the gun debates will always go back-and-forth, and they are really just bandaid solutions anyway where people argue about which guns and ammunition we will allow criminals to kill our children with.
This is an easy debate. These assholes pick schools because they are easy targets. Let's stop making them easy targets.

There are strategies. Watch the videos on Run, Hide, Fight (if you don’t have a gun on you).

No. No it isn’t. How sad that this is a thing that people have just accepted you can’t prevent so you must prepare for with child evasion training
So, you're answer is to punish everyone. That's pathetic. We need to cut out a huge chunk of foreign aid and use it to put real security in schools. I would be willing to bet that there are a crapload of dads in this country who would volunteer to work as security too. They could stand guard outside the school and wouldn't even have to set foot inside.

Fire the teacher
In any of these situations, you are your first line of defense. You can’t expect the police to come charging in to the rescue. We have seen it over and over again, from Columbine to the Pulse nightclub, to the venue in Paris. In an active shooter situation, police are going to set up a perimeter long before they enter a building with an active shooter. It makes no sense to me that we are not actively drilling and teaching kids basic survival skills in these situations. We’ve told them to lock the doors and hide. Those scared kids yesterday had no idea that updating their Snapchat live as the shooting was taking place was the wrong thing to do. They should have been armed with desks, staplers, books bags and anything else they could turn into a weapon in the event he breached the classroom door.

The thought that this isn't preventable is also laughable. We (as a country) are #1 in mass shootings - somehow other countries have figured it out. We should be able to as well.

Was crazy seeing the guys laying down on the ground in the rooms. No damn way id be under a desk. I probably would have busted out a window and got the hell out

Shoot back. There's no reason to not have fire arms in the school. Principals, teachers, janitors, whoever.

They should have never been hired to start with if they can't pass a simple background check that is required to obtain a CC permit.

I don’t know, what percentage of the population have concealed carry permits now?
5% of the general population is my guess. Probably lower for the segment of the population that are generally teachers. For a high school of 2000 - 3000 students (a big school by most standards across the country) that would leave 3 - 5 holders of the student to teacher ratio is 30:1.

National Guard stationed at every school with numerous combat soldiers armed with fully auto M4's as well as tactical vehicles, etc.
That's the only way to stop this cold.

Classroom doors that lock with a key from the inside. Bulletproof whiteboards that a teacher can wheel over in front of the door to protect people inside from spraying bullets through the door lites.
Pretty cheap.

That would be 3-5 more guns potentially able to stop or slow down the shooting before law enforcement arrives. There’s no logical reason why they are now allowed to carry at school.

I think media coverage has a lot to do with it. Sadly though, I think these shootings are an unfortunate side effect of a free society with a free media.

The standard approach these days is 1) run, 2) hide, 3) fight
In my personal opinion it should 1) run, 2) hide and prepare to fight. Meaning get behind a locked door ready to attack the first person to enter the room. Maybe you catch them with the element of surprise, maybe you don't. But better to try it than get shot hiding under a desk imo

Step 0. Vote for those who will allow open carry in public areas not protected by armed law enforcement.
Step 1. Avoid gun free zones. They are killing fields and death traps.
Step 2. Pay attention to your surroundings. If in a legal gun free zone, pay attention for escape routes and hiding places.
Step 3. Flee if possible when shooting starts. Hope someone else kills the SOB. Better a live coward than a dead hero.
Step 4. Hide and ambush if you cannot flee.
Step 5. If cannot flee or hide, pull and fire. Kill the SOB.

Take cover and shoot the perp when they enter your area. It is by far the best strategy

I completely agree. Let the teachers volunteer for the training and have them work hand-in-hand with law enforcement to determine an effective emergency plan. Then if it starts happening the teachers and law enforcement are on the exact same page without confusion. Plus with teachers already armed at the school, the shooter doesn't know which one can shoot back and he encounters resistance almost immediately.
Just like plane hijackings are a thing of the past, this can be a thing of the past if we stop making schools so soft.

I have 7 children 5 who are 18 or older
My wife and I plus those 5 children all have concealed carry permits. We will be the ones shooting back when a perp opens fire around us
