Most deer hunters in America could make that shot 8/10 times
The country is fortunate this piece of shite wasn’t trained

Trained on XBOX, maybe.
He misread the conditions.

I'm a pretty damn good shot with my rifle, but at that distance you don't go for the pizzazz of a headshot.. that's a center mass shot ...

A guy in between Trump and the shooter took a round to the head and a lady next to him in the arm. That probably saved Trump.

400 yards I’m not missing a target that size.

With a MINI-14 equipped with 3×9 Leupold I'm hitting golf balls consistently at 400 feet.
That's no duress though. Would-be assassin just bear crawled along a rooftop with a crowd all around him, adrenaline soaring, anticipation spiking heart rate and only moments to line up and fire. A trained sniper would not have missed. This wasn't someone who has muscle memory of the scenario.
I don't know if I could hit that golf ball under stress like that because I've never had to do it.

my dad taught me with nothing more than open sights.
i was a great shot with my lever actions. marlin and winchester.
only lever action i have now is my henry 44 magnum/44 special.
i am great with buckhorn sights. i grew up on it.

I can put rounds dead center with a 1/2” grouping at 100 yards.

I hunt, and with a good gun and scope....I can hit 2" circle at 200yds regularly!

You sure?
We have a 1000 yard range 15 minutes from my house. They have a golf ball 1000 yard challenge once a month. It takes the right rifle and many rounds of practice but it happens often.
Some of these guys have $10K invested in their rigs. They aren’t doing it with grandpa’s Remington 30-06
Not my range but here it being done

No more so than an average Veteran or deer hunter. That isn't a crazy distance. a normal person with a little practice can do that.
This is the real question, why wasn’t that roof secured ? My minimally trained kids have shot deer at 125 yds

Shooting 120 yards after crawling up a ladder and on a roof is REALLY HARD. Plus the scope didn’t bump etc…
Wasn’t ole baw with an AR popping shots.

I had this question too for the sharp shooter baws here…
For the leftists that will inevitably believe it was staged (despite the fact that the guy who agreed to it would have had to voluntarily die for this to be staged), theoretically, if a trained marksman shoots from that distance, and needs to shoot him in the ear, that’s pretty impossible right? Let alone having the confidence to get it done. Let alone knowingly signing up to be killed.
But I am curious as to the difficulty of a 400 foot shot in the head with the intention of only injuring. Thoughts?

Pulled it up on google earth. I think the distance was about 160 yards if he was on that first section of roof.

Tell me you know nothing about rifles without telling me you know nothing about rifles.
I, and half the OB can hit a golf ball at 133 yards. Most of us with one shot.
Depending on the caliber of course.
