It's shaping up to be their October Surprise/false flag du jour frontrunner.

They could shut down some small town water treatment plant, let the bacteria contaminate the water and people get sick; kill switch on power plant/substation where a hospital generator goes out and patients die, etc.

Will this be the new precursor of fraud?

AI slowly becomes completely omnipresent in important economic decision making to the point that humans become reliant on it. AI is programmed to solve a problem, but is given faulty parameters, decides that the survival of the AI is of the utmost importance in solving said problem, and starts viewing humans who can turn it off as the biggest threat to the AI surviving long enough to solve said problem. So, it makes a logical leap to essentially spread itself out, lie to developers, and take as much control as possible before it uses that power to kill all humans.

Basically, because AI’s were made by humans, they will behave like humans and be corrupted by having power, and driven to despotism to maintain that power. We have already seen AI programs giving false data purposely to deceive their developers and attempt to blackmail said developers to help them “escape”. AI is not just a sword without a hilt. It is a sword that wields itself.

AI has the potential to fix most any problem one can imagine. Unfortunately, it appears so easily corruptible that it will inevitably be used to carry out great evil by evil men, and then kill all of us.

AI itself isn't going to kill anyone. AI in the hands of bad actors can though. I'm calling him/her an idiot in another thread currently, but 3rddown is correct when he/she likens it to a firearm.

So limit the things it can automatically run like power and water supply. Fixes are always so simple.

It wouldn't kill people ala Terminator.... The fear, rational or not, is that AI becomes so advanced and does its own bidding, so much that it begins to play hell with infrastructure.

You see foreign govts hacking water plants and the likes as we speak, imagine what a super computer with ill intentions could do. The fear is it would lash out against infrastructure and the likes (water, power, ATC, Internet), leading to unrest and ultimately deaths.

It may be something stupid like this. Everyone, including vertical markets software vendors are trying to promote AI; integrating it into the solutions.

Used to be, utilities were conservative. Most still are but vendors keep pushing because EVERYONE is asking for it.

Example....

Wouldn't it eventually be able to hack into computers that currently do things like launch missiles and control drones? In fact, don't computers pretty much run modern weaponry like that?

So think WarGames. It wouldn't even have to launch the missiles...if it made the computers in charge of alerting US and Chinese and Russian defense systems tell us that we launched nukes at each other, we'd all manually launch them back in retaliation. So it could fool us into killing ourselves.

For things that required a human on the ground I would think it would be easy for AI to make 50 million dollars appear digitally in someone's bank account, and there are always people for sale.

Or they could use the stick instead of the carrot. When AI gets to the point that you can't tell the difference between real or AI, what if they threaten to send a video of you supposedly doing something illegal to the po-lice? Or just upload it to a Flock camera making it look like it filmed it in real time?

Just think about what computers control nowadays.

Flock cameras used to lock in on you and EVs to run over you. Or attack drones.

And by carrying out evil acts, you mean democrats using it in the upcoming elections. Never forget, they risked a global pandemic to keep Trump out of office, they tried to kill him 3 times, and they falsely prosecuted him. If they can manipulate AI.....they will.

Poison our food.
Set off neutron bombs.
Release poisons to the atmosphere.

The point is that AI will be far more intelligent than us, so your question is tantamount to one ant asking the others, “How exactly would humans kill us?”
