The least, maybe never, talked about marriage penalty related to DIWK families. Every year I have to compare my wife's benefits with mine to see which plan is cheaper hence one company will contribute and the other won't.
If it's cheaper to have the family covered under my plan, her employer saves $10k?
My recommendation would be to increase the HSA limit and change the rules to allow companies to contribute to the HSA without the employee being part of the health plan. Still allow employers to have a group plan, but the premiums come out of the HSA. The employees get to choose to stick with the employer plan, their spouses employer plan, or get their own.

Im pretty anti tax, but junk food should have a hefty national excise tax. We should also remove SNAP eligibility for shitty foods.

nobody forced you or your boyfriend to have a shitty job or kids

This isn’t exactly wrong.
This logic can also be applied to our education and justice system. We spend an insane amount of money trying to reach out to every child even if the family and kid has no interest in learning. Which eventually can be detrimental for the rest of the class and school/system.
We also waste shite tons of money trying to rehabilitate criminals that are beyond saving. I’m not saying we as a society should write people off for the slightest weakness or infraction. But pretending everyone can and should be “saved” has never been logical.

Remove government from any healthcare equation and cost plummets.

Did you even read my post? My job is so awesome that they pay a huge portion of my family's insurance cost. It was no doubt a better choice to take the family plan from my employer. By doing so, my wife's employer contributes zero to our health insurance. It would be great if they would be able to take the $10k that they would apply to her premiums, and instead deposit it into an HSA that the family could use to pay our deductible.

Health insurance should only be for catastrophic events.
All other health spending needs to be cash based.
That will help control costs
Would also minimize unnecessary visits. Be an adult, not everything needs a visit to the doctor.

When you get a bunch of illegals flooding emergency rooms, and not paying jack shite, the rest of us pick up the bill.

Eliminate Medicaid, Medicare, and the VA. Govt subsidies and regulation are the cause of high prices.

Also the chart is retarded. Every single item on that chart would cost a fortune if it was viewed as a right for 100% of people.

It can’t because such a huge percentage of costs are preventable but most people are non compliant.

Cut wages? Get rid of employees?

Truth be known, we have to get good with letting people die.
For most, more is spent in the last year of life on healthcare than all years prior.

So now we're OK with death panels.
Your premise is not wrong. But people went ballistic over it a few years ago

If you get to a certain weight they eject you into outer space. Should help out.

Getting people healthy is a long term solution.
Lower drug prices is the short term solution.

Get government out of the way.
Posted on 6/28/25 at 7:51 pm to The Scofflaw
That chart almost shows that the more government gets involved in an industry, the faster prices rise.
Weird, huh?
