Funny how Amazon and Apple get free passes from the left on their billions in profits and tax strategy/evasion.

You would think if they were serious about their incessant whining over corporations and billionaires they would say something.

Trump doesn't pay income tax either. How does he get away with it?

And it’s one of the reasons you seethe at the notion everyday that he is your president. And is also why Maxine and crew want his tax returns.

But how great is Amazon? Amirite?

You don’t get the premise of these posts.... but they are making fun of you lefties that continue on with this bullshite but clam up when it is on the other side.

And, on record, I agree with Amazon’s position if it is legitimately following the tax law.

Capex I suppose. They take a long term approach to infrastructure and building out stuff. Their accountants must know depreciation better than anyone.

I think it’s bull shite that Amazon gets huge tax breaks that other corporations don’t get, it distorts the market. Sort of like China. When you bring them to heel it works out well for everyone.

Guessing they still have a lot of carryforward.

They lost money for years while making sure mom and pops went out of business. They probably have NOLs / Deferred Tax Assets to use against current income.

Now that all the retail/brick & mortars are out of business they can charge more, provide crappier service and make a profit.

I don’t know why people are hating. I’m applauding them. I applaud anybody that avoids paying taxes and want to be like them when I grow up.

And it’s not like they didn’t pay taxes on their payroll I assume?

They're a modern definition of a monopoly. They control, or at least strongly influence, prices and markets on a huge array of consumer goods and soon, services beyond prime TV.

And monopolies gonna monopoly, as far as paying taxes.

Based on what they get paid? Don’t count on it.

How do they avoid paying any taxes on 11 billion?

I’m not one for raising taxes but that’s bullshite. Whatever loophole allows this needs to be done away with

A large part of the reason is the way the IRS handles stock options being exercised. The difference between put and exercise price can be written off against tax liability by the corporation. It makes sense, the individual will then have to claim that difference as income and be taxed on it. (By the way this was put into effect in the Clinton admin).

So Amazon may have benefited from it, but the IRS ultimately gets the tax dollars....the devil always gets his due.
