NASA expert says we need to solve the van Allen radiation problem before we can go to the moon

Maybe in the process of developing the atomic bomb they discovered a new element that both protects you from radiation and generates near unlimited energy also allowing you to defy gravity and manipulate space. Rather than share that element, they blew up two major cities and then they went to the moon to show you how powerful the US govt is and then buried the discovery until they need it again.

Yeah I’m gonna start that theory.

Or maybe all the nazi and communist scientists we imported made a deal with the Devil and the US Government wanted in on it.

No. NASA has already said multiple times we can't.

Good lord.

This thread is one of the best arguments you could make that democracy is overrated. The fact that someone this insular and willfully ignorant has a vote that counts the same as mine is just depressing AF.

My favorite thing about the "moon landing was fake" is not only did they fake it in 1969 but they faked it five more times and are going to fake it again with the Artemis missions.

Who except those who rely on masses of low IQ sheep in elections (in other words, Democrats) highly rates democracy?

Back in the old days local tv stations would sign on with telling you how they are blasting out so many kilowatts of power to get their signal to travel about fifty miles in Baton Rouge. Maybe 80 miles in New Orleans with a more powerful transmitter but yet …. From the surface of the moon we can transmit 240000 miles with a deep cycle marine battery .

I bet you are really freaked out by HAM radios

At this point, if you believe the moon landing was fake, there is no hope for you.

where it can be picked up by a pos stick antenna on a k-car after punching through buildings and trees. Transmission power is only a small part of the picture, the others are the sensitivity of the receiving antenna and blockage, which is pretty much zero for talking to the moon. You can buy a satellite phone the size of a snickers; is that a big hoax?

Mostly true, transmission will still reduce in power over distance . More amusing is the phone call Nixon made to the astronauts, with absolutely no delay in their transmission being received.

Yes. One of the methods is EME, or earth-moon-earth or moonbounce, where the transmitter sends a signal from a terrestrial location, bounces it off the moon for a return to an earth receiver.

There was about a 5-7 second delay.

The moon is about 1.3 light seconds away. Any radios signal sent to the moon would take only about a second to get there and another second to return.

If only we could check the original NASA video. Unfortunately, they appear to have been lost in a "boating accident".

Weird...

Lost in this uncomfortable polemic over something we really did accomplish, is that the Russians in typical Bolshevik fashion attempted their own moonshot at about the same time as ours in a slick effort to upstage the American effort strictly for political purposes.

Only problem, ours was a soft landing on the satellite.

The Russians landed their craft on it at over 200 miles per hour.

It had been awhile since their glory with Sputnik.
