How close is Texas to turning Democrat in national elections?

If Democrats take Texas
I don't see how Republicans could ever win another national election
too many electoral votes between NY< California and Texas
the big 3 and it's over
Texas has too many nut jobs that keep getting voted into office
Not to mention a great number of Mosques in Texas...

The current Electoral College totals (used for the 2024 and 2028 presidential elections) are:
California — 54 electoral votes
Texas — 40 electoral votes
New York — 28 electoral votes
Combined total: 122 electoral votes
Texas has too many nut jobs that keep getting voted into office
Not to mention a great number of Mosques in Texas...
quote:
The widely cited 2020 U.S. Mosque Survey estimated about 224 mosques in Texas.
More recent business-directory style databases estimate around 330+ mosques and Islamic centers in Texas as of 2025–2026.
Texas is generally considered to have the 3rd-highest number of mosques in the U.S., behind only states like New York and California.
The largest concentrations are in:
Houston
Dallas / Fort Worth
Austin
San Antonio
For example, the Dallas–Fort Worth metro alone reportedly has around 67 mosques. And the Houston area has well over 100 Islamic worship centers and mosques, depending on how they’re counted.

It’s not. How long have we had to listen to this ridiculous narrative?

Not close at all.

I think it’s closer than many want to admit. Too many people leaving California for Texas, but continue to vote for the same failed policies. Too many Muslim immigrants.

It will eventually happen one day but that’s still a long way off. We’ve been hearing this every election the last 20 years or more

I wish we could stop calling them the Democrats and call then what they are, The Socialist/Marxists Party.
Todays Democrats are nothing even remotely close to resembling the pre-1970s - 1980s democrat party.

Texas only has Texas to blame. Whose been in charge for 20 years?
Abbott, Paxton, Cornyn. The three amigos.

Texas is as close to turning blue like Illinois is as close to turning red

It is close enough that a really bad republican candidate could get beat by a really good democratic candidate.
While I do think Paxton is generally a bad candidate, I am not sure that talarico is going to really inspire people outside of the rich elite democratic group.

One of those is not like the other two traitors

Texas can turn fully-Trump and keep GOP control. If they dick around in some Bush-era sandbox though, then no. They'll probably go blue. But what's really the difference?

I don't someone who said they were against meat can win a state known for steak.

It could be next election, but the democrats seem determined to only run beta men that appeal to mentally ill karens. So for the time being, no chance for the demos as long as we can keep the RINO candidates weeded out in the primaries.

Wishful thinking.
Native Texan. Not enough California trans crossed into Texas.
Means you think somehow that Austin represents the entire mindset. Yet every election you get kicked in the teeth based on reality. Best bet is that those California trans dropped off the map in Arizona or New Mexico. Santa Fe is the perfect environment for liberal idiots from the west.

After Texas, Georgia and Florida
Oh wait, Georgia is already blue -- more or less

W was the Governor and he won by a whole lot in his 2 presidential elections.
If you leave those two elections out then 2024 was the second most lopsided win for Republicans since 1984. Trump won by roughly 13.5 points. Romney won by 15.5 points, third would be H.W. in 1988 winning by 12.5.
Trump bested his 2016 by almost 5 points and his 2020 win by 8 points.

Polticians and just public in general celebrate the new businesses and residents that came from California, but obviously there are consequences. At least as troubling is that Texas politicians apparently make things easy for Muslims.
