Hill music from the Carter family was all acoustic.

I have lived in the South my entire life.

Never have I not known country blacks.

I hate these fricking white liberals.

Early blues like that from Robert Johnson was all acoustic as well. I'll tell you that the Carter family being Hill people probably had more than just a smattering of Cherokee and Creek Indian in them and their vocal arrangements.

Why shouldn’t they be given credit for their contributions to the genre?

they would if we were crediting the correct black people and not Beyonce and Lil Nas X

DJ Kool Herc DJing at the South Bronx street and house parties of the early 1970's with Coke La Rock is where it began

Debbie Harry used Fab Five Freddy to make rap mainstream with Rapture in 1981 but the Sugar Hill Gang was out with Rapper's Delight in 1979 and charted on the Billboard Top 40 in Jan 1980.

Charley Pride first charted on the Billboard Hot 100 Country Songs in 1967 with Just between you and me. The he hit #1 with Kiss an Angel Good Morning in 1971

Between 1969 and 1971, Pride had eight singles that reached number one on the US Country Hit Parade and also charted on the Billboard Hot 100: "All I Have to Offer You (Is Me)", "(I'm So) Afraid of Losing You Again", "I Can't Believe That You've Stopped Loving Me", "I'd Rather Love You", "Is Anybody Goin' to San Antone", "Wonder Could I Live There Anymore", "I'm Just Me", and "Kiss an Angel Good Mornin'". The pop success of these songs reflected the country/pop crossover sound that was reaching country music in the 1960s and early 1970s, known as "Countrypolitan". In 1969, his compilation album, The Best of Charley Pride, sold more than one million copies, and was awarded a gold disc.[18] Ultimately, Elvis Presley was the only artist who sold more records than Pride for RCA.[19][9]

Poor Hispanics, their self esteem doesn't need this level of validation.

Hootie is a bigger country music star than Lil Nas X and Beyonce.

They just don't like Hootie cause he isn't gay or best buds with Barry & Mike!

Meh.

Things like this don't bother me. Charlie Pride has already been discussed. African Spirituals have had a significant impact on country music. And the Blues makes its way into country.

That said, that Beyonce country song is straight arse.

They certainly gave David Allen Coe a lot of material to write about.

Sure is.

And they are doing nothing but making people want to avoid black artists like when Netflix used to push black movies in Feb.

Just make good movies and music and we will watch and listen.

So not 9/11, Gulf of Tonkin, Covid-19, etc. No, it's that blacks aren't country.

I'm really sick of the 'black people invented music' thing. The contributions are there but these styles of music and the instruments with which they are played had existed for centuries before blacks even knew they existed.

So basically they're saying that all music was bad until they came along. Yeah, thanks.

This won’t stick. It’ll be like that cringe forced “KFC stands for Kitchen Fresh Chicken” they tried in the early 2000s. Black people don’t listen to country and no one will ever associate black people with country. Actual black country artists today are pretty much limited to Darius Rucker.

They really are doubling, tripling, and quadrupling down on the whitey is evil narrative. You’d think with people like Bill Maher and Joe Rogan, as well as the SC decision over the summer getting rid of race based college admissions, that they’d get the message it’s running out of time. Oh well.
