We don't want the government deciding where that money for food should be spent. We don't want real or figurative bread lines.

We would all be better off if we replaced every cent of welfare with straight cash payouts - allow medicare and medicaid recipients to see whatever doctor they choose, allow food stamp recipients to spend on whatever food they want, etc.

If you have a food stamp card, you're failing at life.

I am a registered Democrat and I actually support this proposal. I think if you take food assistance from the government you have no right to bitch about the food you are provided. Don't like it? Get a job, move up in society, and provide yourself with the means to get better food.

Because, for progressives, welfare isn’t about providing for the needy. It’s about equalizing outcomes.
They want the nonproductive to go to the grocery store, load the cart up with whatever expensive junk they want, and check out with a SNAP card right in the face of everyone who is paying for their own groceries.
It’s corrosive to the social fabric, which for progressives is a feature not a bug.

That guvment cheese
We had some kind of connection to the Department of Agriculture out on the farm, and they’d get us a box or two of that pure, pasteurized shite every now and then. It was the bomb. I’d eat it straight up. Take a knife, carve off a few slices, and go sit in the swing. Good times.

I would be ok if the box program costs more than ebt cards as long as it's more humiliating to the recipient

I grew up poor. I mean, borderline homeless poor. We had no hot water. We had no gas or propane- and lived in town. So I split wood to burn in our old leaky wood stove. Over half the time our electric was off, until my dad (God rest his soul) convinced the neighbor to let us run an extension cord out of his side window into our side window so we could watch tv and run a microwave. We got both food stamps and box commodities from the time I was 12 until I graduated and moved out at age 17 in 1996.

I am a witness. If someone offered to give me one or two blocks a month of that gov'ment cheese again, I would fall all over myself. Hell, if it had been offered to us to have it delivered to our front door, we would have been ecstatic. Would've saved many walks halfway across town (albeit a small town) with a heavy box of cheese, canned foods and dry foods.

Bruh, that's old school poor.

New poor is 1080p instead of 4k.

iPhone 7 instead of X.

Personally, I don’t give a shite as long as the $500 doesn’t go up.

The $500 turns into $50,000 real quick when they get diabetes and Medicaid has to fund their insulin injections.

Hickory Farms must be lobbying for this. Give every family a $250.00 box of sausage and cheese and crackers.

Are you shitting me? Relying on someone else to provide you with something is begging. In this case welfare recipients are in fact begging the government for assistance.
