HOUSTON (FOX 26) - Greenpeace activists are suspended from the Fred Hartman Bridge to protest the use of fossil fuels ahead of tonight's Democratic debate in Houston.
Twenty-two protesters are on the bridge. Eleven for them are suspended by harnesses over the Houston Ship Channel.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez says the sheriff's department is aware of the demonstration. "We are actively monitoring the situation with other public safety partners," he wrote on Twitter.
THEY'RE BLOCKING ONE LANE OF TRAFFIC Y'ALL!!! ONE WHOLE LANE OMG.
ETA:
LIVE KHOU

Surely the police don't need advice from us on what to do about these law breakers.
Bolt cutters. Anyone have bolt cutters in their cruisers.
That would be great tv.

“We're in Houston shutting down the largest oil export channel in the country to resist Trump & the oil industry for fueling this #ClimateCrisis. It's time to end the age of oil. #PeopleVsOil” Greenpeace USA posted on Twitter.
It's a three lane bridge, and they shut down one lane. Shipping traffic moving just fine.

Serious question: What happens when they have to go to the bathroom?

Did they carry all their petroleum based gear there? Surely no one dropped them off in a vehicle.

Their resist shite is so cute. Idiots.

Just take away their support team on the bridge and leave them hanging by themselves with no way of getting back up.

wonder if their lines are made from all natural material by hand or made, processed and delivered by products derived from oil ?

And exactly what does this accomplish? Not one damn thing. They should be arrested.

We should abide by the gun control nuts in this case...cut 'em loose and let the Chip's (and Cindy's) fall where they may (land).

I like how Polish coast guard dealt with Greenpeace swine that tried to block a coal delivery- they seized their friggin ship, the Rainbow Warrior

GDANSK (Reuters) - Armed Polish border guards boarded a Greenpeace ship blocking a delivery of coal in the port of Gdansk late on Monday and detained two activists, officials said on Tuesday.
The environmental group said it staged the protest to highlight Poland’s continued dependence on air-polluting coal and to pressure it to phase out coal as a source of energy by 2030.
Greenpeace’s Rainbow Warrior arrived in Gdansk at 1600 GMT on Monday and the ship anchored around midnight, trying to prevent a shipment of coal from Mozambique from being unloaded, according to Gdansk coastal border guard spokesman Tadeusz Gruchalla.
