MJ, you're an attorney in NYC. I feel like you are probably the most "business world" person in this thread.
What do you think?
Because I see dress like that from women at all levels in my world, but I'm in South, so
I mean, there's plenty of judges in Louisiana who would say something if a woman attorney showed up in their courtroom dressed like some of those. There's others who wouldn't.

Good point. Litigators going to court are subject to more formal standards. I'm a corporate guy.

This sort of thing is why flying is like what riding a bus used to be

These people are making decisions that directly affect the free world. At least they could dress appropriately. If there was no AC in the capitol, I'd cut them a break.

Agreed.

That's what I loved about the Iowa state fair routine during the campaign. All the politicians showed up in jeans, boots, and plaid shirts. Trump dropped out of his helicopter with a suit.

This is where I get confused. We hear every day that women want to be treated no different from the men. Our male representatives aren't allowed to show up to the capitol dressed like Larry the Cable Guy, so why do these women get special treatment when it comes to bare arms? Do they want equality or don't they?
Stop making sense.
Democrats (men and women) are emotional in ALL of their decisions. If men went sleeveless, they'd all scream "wife-beater"!
eta: WHY did I go back and look at DWS trunks of cankles?!!!!

There's a few in the 2nd row I can agree with that on but even the ladies in the front? Outside of some movie, they look pretty well dressed for business to me.

That's a great example.
If you're a great actor, sure, maybe you can persuade the locals that you're one of them.
But why?
They don't want that. They just want to be understood.
They will punish a fake though. Just look at Kerry in 04. He traded his Ducati for a Harley and pretended to be one of the guys.
It wasn't credible and voters punished him for it.

They're dressed fine to go to an office. No one is arguing that. None of them will show up at a press conference like that. None of them should take a constituent or lobbyist meeting at their D.C. office dressed like that and I'd bet almost none of them do.
This is a stupid hill for them to fight on.

Is that DWS on the left with the unfortunate cankles?
She's wearing comfortable shoes. You should see her in 8 inch stiletto heels.
Or, maybe not.

Perfect example that you sometimes shouldn't even though you may.

that is "business attire" for women
I am in the business world. And yes, I agree, that is "business attire" for some women. Hell, jeans and an under armour polo is "business attire" for some. But those people aren't in Congress. Presumably that position holds some esteem. The least you could do is dress accordingly.
