Key House Democrats pressing the Senate to hear from new witnesses in President Trump’s impeachment trial are leaving the door open to another possibility: calling those witnesses themselves if Senate Republicans do not.
House Democrats impeached Trump last month on two charges related to his handling of foreign policy in Ukraine, but their investigations into the issue remain open even as the spotlight turns to the launch of the Senate trial.
Democrats in both chambers are hoping the emergence of new evidence and eyewitness offers to testify will force Senate GOP leaders to consider the unexplored information, including captivating details of Trump’s pressure campaign recently provided by Lev Parnas, a Soviet-born businessman with close ties to Trump's personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani.
Most Senate Republicans, taking cues from Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), oppose any effort to seek testimony from Parnas and other key figures who refused to cooperate in the initial House investigation — a list that includes John Bolton, Trump's former national security adviser, who has since changed his tune and offered to testify under subpoena.
Yet even if McConnell has his way and prevents new witnesses from appearing, they may find a stage in the House, where a number of Democrats are already advocating for their testimony if they’re silenced by the Senate.
“We would be remiss in the House of Representatives not to follow this trail to its conclusion. And Parnas has emerged as an important figure in this criminal conspiracy to force or coerce a foreign government to help Trump's reelection campaign,” said Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.), a member of the Judiciary Committee, which drafted the impeachment articles late last year.

I’m so over this. I don’t know how y’all that follow politics way more than me can continue on like you do. Trump has been on defense his entire term and they are NEVER going to stop until he starts playing some offense.

You serious Clark? George W played defense for 8 years and never once fought back. Trump has been giving it to the Dems as hard as they have given it to him. Trump stays on offense and never takes his foot off of their throats. The only problem is that a part of our side cowers in fear every time he goes after Dems on twitter and wishes he wouldn’t do that. To hell with that, when you’re engaged in an all out war with the Dems, it’s not going to be pretty.

No surprise. The dems will keep on, keeping on. With no really viable candidate, they have to do everything in their power to cripple Trump.
The present impeachment is doomed to failure, so they will start another set. They are essentially out of any other options to try to energize their base. Catch with doing this is they seem to be doing a much better job energizing Trump's base.

Not a constitutional lawyer, but I suspect they could call them, and "start another impeachment", even as the Senate is holding court on the present impeachment.

I blame Ryan for all of it. He sat on his arse lame duck for a year. Covering for Burr, Warner, Graham, McCain, all of them both R and D's. He refused Nunes dire warnings of spygate.

It's just most msm instantly jump up and down, screaming...as they accuse trump of just trying to negate his orange man bad actions, and cast shade on those poor, innocent congressmen.
Even Comey is still well defended by most Democrats, rinos and msm..even after trump and company proved that Comey is corrupt.
There's only so much trump can do. Especially when you factor in the permanent government assholes protecting each other, so that none of the corrupt pieces of shite have to worry about being held accountable.
