When I’d go to Lowe’s or Home Depot in new Orleans guess what the clientele was? Black. I know, crazy.

I keep seeing videos like this but supposedly we have only deported around 1,000 illegals. That wouldn’t add up to a bunch of empty stores and neighborhoods so either media is lying about deportation numbers, they’re self deporting or hiding, or the videos are bullshite to try to paint a narrative. It wouldn’t be hard to video a typical slow time at Home Depot and make these claims

In Houston on a weekday morning, a lot of the people been there buying supplies are Hispanic business owners. I would bet the majority of them are legal (now I wouldn’t make that bet on the guys they’re employing). Weekends are more of a homeowner crowd.

More than you think.

The largest group of recent arrivals in this country are asylum seekers. The way federal law is structured by Congress right now is that when they presented at a border checkpoint and filled out an asylum application, they were given papers for lawful entry and work status. The status is inherently temporary, expiring when their asylum application hearing takes place. At that point, either they would be granted permanent entry or the application would be denied and they would be ordered to leave.

With a work permit and lawful entry papers in hand, many got lawful jobs and apartments, and trucks, etc, but never appeared for their asylum hearings because they didn't have the evidence to prove a right to asylum. Their employers would have already verified lawful work status at the time of hire, so no one was breaking the law. That is the asylum loophole. Likely millions of migrants have overstayed by many years.

The risk now is that if these folks are stopped by ICE, they cannot show proof of lawful status and their names would be on the list of folks whose asylum applications were denied. So they will be taken into custody and deported. They will also be barred from reentry for ten years.

So yes, a huge number are not here on a lawful status even though very few of them ever "snuck across the border."
