Doesn't Georgia have the Hope scholarship for good grades in Georgia, so tuition would not be much.

Instead of whining and soliciting sympathy she needs to apply herself and work towards a job that pays more. You're not going to start at the top, you have to pay some dues and learn the ropes as you move up.

Bogart is a suburb of Athens. This was a quick google search. Since apples don't fall far from trees, and this apple is still making minimum wage in this market (even at a fast food restaurant), the dad is probably on the lower end of this scale. Even so, $70k-80k and a mom who works, they ought to be living pretty comfortably.

A million food service workers quit McDonalds and went to Burger King. They are looking far too deep into this.
Go to technical school or college for a useful career field and work your way up. Live with friends or at home until you start to climb the ladder. It’s not that damn hard folks.

No kidding. I'd like to sit her down and go over some of the crap jobs I held when I was a young'n. She'd realize that she isn't all that unfortunate.

Ok. Your job sucks. I scrubbed toilets for 3.25 an hour when I was in college. Other jobs also suck. My nephew served in Iraq and Afghanistan. He worked in blistering heat trying to save the lives of his wounded fellow soldiers. Trying to keep a guy alive who has been shot multiple times while being shot at himself makes your job look a lot better. There is always someone in a worse situation.

Right near Athens and UGA. In Georgia, we have the Hope Scholarship whereby college tuition is paid for students who perform well through moneys the state receives from Mega Millions and Powerball (or so we have been told and sold).
If she's a good enough student to get into college, then shouldn't she be good enough to earn funding through the Hope Scholarship? If not, I fear that she may never develop skills more desirable in the work force than what she has now. Maybe that's why she's particularly concerned with the current pay rate.
Also, McDonald's pay's more than $9.00/hr, and will help with college tuition in many instances. Maybe she should look at seeking employment there in the interim.

I made a more than $20/hr waiting tables in college when the wage portion was $2.13. Last shift was 7 years ago, but it’s still relatively recent. If you don’t make good money waiting tables, especially for a college kid, you either work at a shitty restaurant or you’re a shitty waiter. Honestly, that was probably the most fun I had at a job and I wish I had started doing it earlier in college.

I remember very well when working at a fast food/burger joint was something teenagers did for their spending money while in high school and maybe through college. Outside of the manager working in the fast food industry was never considered a career until the past 10 years.

Sorry… if she is working in fast food and just making minimum wage right now… with other places offering sign on bonuses and 12 bucks and more for workers… she is: 1: A liar 2: An idiot End of story.
True but it’s possible she doesn’t work at fast food. Ruth’s Chris is a chain. That could be the server wage, not the kitchen staff wage.

Poor baby.
I hated my first job too — it was working for my dad.
When I complained about the pay (NONE!) he said “You’ll Get Nothing And Like It!”
My dad was a small business owner for over 40 years and I thank God in Heaven that he is not alive to witness this once great nation degenerate into a banana republic.

Things are diff rt now. But even with hope it was more expensive for me to attend ga tech than lsu.

Back in my day I worked for $3.85 per hour and begged to work more than 40 hours. I believed if I wanted more money I either had to work longer or harder(job without AC). It’s a shame how our youth views the world now compared to the 80s.

If I said any of this crap to my Dad he would have laughed at me and said, "Sounds like you need to quit bitching and make yourself more valuable, you God Damn pussy."
*I missed the fact that this is a female, which makes this a little bit understandable. But my two sisters always had jobs and paid for their college educations and I didn't hear anything like this letter.

Seems like an entitled little girl. Seems to live in a nice house and wears nice clothes. She for sure hates Trump. This was nothing more than a made up hit piece.
