First step out of this mess is to return to pre COVID spending levels. Laying off no accountability low iq government workers and DOGE isn’t and won’t put a dent in spending.

I’m probably looking at zero bonus payout due to tariffs (and every one of my items is US Manufactured).

Took a giant profit hit before we could pass on the costs to our customers.

I just find it hilarious that he's calling money taken from you, given back to you, a "dividend". Literally trying to bribe you with your own money. Entertaining for sure.

The reality for the Trump worshippers on here is setting in. All of his recent ‘ideas’ are unmasking him as what he truly is and always has been - A New York City Democrat parading around as a ‘populist’ who leans ‘Conservative’. There is no policy or idea no matter how dumb that his followers won’t twist their beliefs to support. Don’t believe me? Look at the 50 year mortgage thread

We’re going to impart tariffs which will make you pay more for goods but here’s some of the increased prices you paid back? We (the government) will pocket the difference and this will eventually make companies onshore widget production?

Tariffs are proven to protect domestic industries. It’s at the cost of other things, but it does happen. Why the question mark at the end of your sentence? Do you doubt this proven fact?

Don't worry, nobody is getting a tariff dividend, so you are not missing out on anything.

Too late. We missed out on the return of tax dollars that was the pandemic stimmies (ie we got a relative tax increase).

FWIW, I think the 50-year mortgage is a horrible policy, and I responded to you in that thread.

All the idiots doing the "you'll own nothing and love it" a year ago now saying "TRUMP IS A STABLE GENIUS" today did quite the 180

No. We've had huge tariffs on solar for over a decade. Still no significant domestic manufacturing.

Still havent learned your lesson, Donny? What a dumbass.

I wouldn’t say he’s dumb. What he’s doing is positioning himself as defending working class Americans if the SC strikes down the tariffs because there goes the dividend. This is all marketing. It always has been and always be. The court is rogue and shouldn’t have this power…

Trump did this in his first term. When he gets unpopular he starts giving stuff away and attacking his own party members.

Because he cannot admit he is wrong.

Its always someone else's fault.

You picked a single case, which is fraught with risk. The solar industry is possible only with government subsidies. Who wants to build a factory and take the risk that those subsidies will be revoked?

quote:

Steel and Aluminum Tariffs (U.S.): Tariffs imposed in 2018 are associated with increased domestic production, new investment in high-tech mills, and thousands of jobs in the steel and aluminum sectors. Domestic production of steel increased by approximately \(1.9\%\) and aluminum by \(3.6\%\) annually, according to the USITC report.

Washing Machine Tariffs (U.S.): Tariffs on imported washing machines led two major South Korean manufacturers, Samsung and LG, to open new manufacturing plants in the United States. This resulted in more jobs and new factories, while prices for consumers reportedly did not rise significantly, notes Prosperous America.

Home Generator Production (U.S.): After tariffs, home generator production moved from China to South Carolina in 2021, creating an estimated 750 jobs, reports Prosperous America.

East Asian Economies: Japan and South Korea, during their industrialization, used tariffs as part of a strategy that helped their manufacturing sectors grow, though this was in a different historical and economic context.

Biden’s long gone baw. All the shite Trump promised like cheaper groceries etc hasn’t happened sans maybe eggs. Can’t blame Biden at this point and it looks like Trump is panicking and running out of ideas and resorting to ‘tweets’ in all caps to try and calm the masses. Some of his most recent ideas on beef and mortgages sound like something Kamala would propose

Did you argue the same thing when they similarly ruled Biden's student loan forgiveness illegal?
