where do you think the tariffs came from?

So if that’s the case, why shouldn’t it go back?

Remember the question, do you think money is better off in the hands of government?

What about replacing all the oil removed from the petroleum reserve

We have over 400 million barrels in the reserve now and we produce almost 15 million a day

Adding more to the SPR isn't a bad thing but it's not something that seems to be urgent at all

This isn't the question. The question is "why take it in the first place?"

Obviously, I don't. But giving it back to those that paid it isn't what's proposed. See the title of this thread? It's not a refund. It's redistribution. So I'll ask you... "why should the government be in the redistribution business?". It's a Bernie Sanders wet dream.

Except it is not going back.

High earners will get "zero". I can assure you they are paying the majority of these tariffs.

This is wealth redistribution. Trump is buying votes.

To leverage competing, foreign companies for goods and services to give American Manufacturers a chance in the world market.

To tariff back to the countries that tariff the USA.

This isn’t hard. Trade isn’t free or fair if we don’t have these tools.

Don’t disagree but every dollar from government is a redistribution.

My contention is money the government confiscates should stop and since it won’t we should give as much back as possible to all of those that pay in, not just the welfare grifters.

Money in government hands bad, money in earners hands good.

Then bash them for taking tarrifs in the first place.

Theyre trying to usurp consumer choice.

They might go back but more indirectly

Our economy is highly dependent on consumer spending. This is not only a vote buying mechanism but it's also a mechanism to juice the economy.

When all of this money gets spent almost immediately, it finds its way back to the top.

I just don’t see where the money is coming from. We had a budget surplus a few months ago, but I don’t think we have had a surplus since. Any tariff money needs to go to getting us to a surplus and paying down the national debt. I believe the current national debt as a percent of the gdp is close to what we had in WW2, that needs to be closer to 30-35%.

Debt? If we have all this extra cash, how about just pass a balanced budget for the first time since Clinton was in office?

Different type of redistribution. Mamdani and communists want to tax high-income individuals and give to low-income individuals, which is a zero sum game.

Trump wants to tax business coming into this country and give to low-income individuals. This is not a zero sum game and doesn’t hurt the high-income earner.

Tariffs are so misunderstood and slept on it’s crazy.

How is taxing major corporations (owned by high-income individuals who are entitled to the income produce by the entity) and then redistributing that money to poor people any different

I can't wait for the wailing and gnashing of teeth on this board if Rand Paul and Thomas Massie speak out against this. Lol.
