Any city, county, state or federal jobs will have good retirement plans.

The problem with those jobs is they are competitive and they take a long time to fill them. I applied for the custodian position back on the first week of March but the job won't be closed until after April 30th. I just got a job but if I do get an offer from them then I will leave my current job ASAP.

For sure. Folks used to think state/local government jobs were some sort of fallback that would be there if everything else fell through. But good luck with that these days. You damn near have to "know someone" in many such instances to get that needed leg up on the competition.

I thought a bout working at Nucor Steel in the future. The starting pay is $80,000 in my state where I live. It is a dangerous job but the pay does go over $100,000 a year. I know a person who has a bachelors degree and was a coach, he quit his job and is working for them.

They are building a steel mill close to the Helena, Arkansas area from what I was told.

This shows both the stupidity of socialist policies (of which, this is only a taste of the real thing) and how ignorant people are, for thinking that these handouts are just going to keep coming. They won't. And due to the fallout of people quitting their jobs in favor of living off the government, they might find it very difficult to find a job to come back to down the road. Businesses were already struggling enough, but if they don't have enough staff to handle partial capacity, how long can they sustain?

Really sad.

I DD on the side here in north Texas and I have mgrs constantly asking me if I know of anyone looking for a job,

Here’s a crazy story for you and I’ve heard they have really good benefits, recently I spoke with a Mgr at a Chick Fil la and was asking when they planned on opening up the inside and he said they wanna try to open it up next month but they don’t have enough employees to run the inside. This is insane.

Sort of. I have a year of experience in the field, but really was no where near the level of what they were looking for. I suppose I was the best one that applied and wanted the job though. This is at a well respected fortune 500 company being a fleet mechanic

We're getting hammered on the Gulf Coast with tourism ramping up. Every restaurant from Pcola to Gulf Shores has help wanted signs up.

Most places have limited seating and 2 hr. waits.

Hell, even Flora-Bama is offering a $500 bonus to find employees.

And yet people wonder why business hire Mexicans over Americans when and where they can.

It’s just not low wage earners either. I know someone who was making 75K per year. They got fired but boss didn’t fight unemployment. This person is riding the govt paycheck train.

This is a justification for the 15/hr minimum wage. If employers would pay wages that are competitive with stimulus/ unemployment, we wouldn't have these problems.

$600/wk x 4 weeks = $2400 + $500/month food stamps = $2900/month ÷ 160 hr/mo = $18.12/hr

It's not just low paying jobs that have a shortage. A local plumbing company is offering a $3k sign on bonus for experienced plumbers, RN's are getting $10K sign on bonuses. HVAC techs are in high demand right now as well.

Sounds like they’re not paying a living wage

That's because the moron government is paying their living expenses already for them not to work. When they cut that off, they will all be actually trying to work again for a living wage.

I work at a MO based PS label convertor. Yes, we made some of those bumper stickers on your car along with labels on your craft beer.

We've got opening for CSRs, Shipping clerks, slitters, rewinders and a chance to apprentice into the training program to learn to run a press, it takes 2 years or so.

We can't fill the spots. We had 4 set to interview for the clerk gig, only 1 bothered to show. One guy was hired and didn't show for his 1st day.

This can' last.

My nephew has a very successful landscaping business in Birmingham. He has upped his starting pay to $20 an hour and can’t find hardly anyone willing to work. I asked him about hiring Hispanics and he said they have figured it out and will not take jobs for less money like they used to. I couldn’t believe he is paying $20 an hour for unskilled labor to lay sod and plant shrubs.
