I no doubt have much different taste than a white male democrat, but I’m a family man. Nuclear family tho, you’d hate us.
And sorry, but I don’t trust the judgement of white male democrats, usually something is off.

As Council President and as a former State Legislator, she’s won victories to broaden economic opportunity and knock down barriers for small businesses, increase safety and reform our criminal justice system, promote gender equality, lead on climate action and a cleaner environment, and protect and uplift the most vulnerable in our society. Among her victories for working people include restoring millions in violence interruption funding, massively expanding summer job opportunities, requiring equity and set-asides in City contracting, raising wages and instituting paid leave for all City employees, promoting fair drug policy by decriminalizing cannabis, authoring laws to shield victims of sexual assault, reducing incarceration by preventing unnecessary arrests, restricting weapons from domestic abusers, transforming New Orleans into a renewable energy trailblazer, and pushing to rebuild our crumbling infrastructure both above and below our streets.
Keep digging, NOLA.

Ah yes, the Grammar Olympics.
here's a bronze medal for effort, but zero points on substance (you're familar with this concept)

Yes NOLA should have a Republican mayor. Look at how well Louisiana has done with a Republican dominated legislature and now a Republican Governor. Sarcasm intended.
It will need to have Republican voters first. It has 164,679 registered Dems, 24,909 registered Republicans and 73,274 registered as Other voters.
It's ALWAYS been a Democrat city, always.

Whatever happened to the guy on here that was going to run on the sole platform of “I’m just here to fix the roads” and nothing else? He’d get my vote.

As a Houstonian, I am stunned that a blonde rich girl from Episcopal & SMU is the new mayor of New Orleans.
Daddy is Mexican, she was born in Vera Cruz. She was a TV reporter and got to New Orleans as a morning news anchor. She was an intern for Clinton. She has some street cred as a former state representative and still a city council member until she takes her new office.
My guess is not enough money was backing the other two of the three leading candidates. You would be surprised as how much wealthy Uptown often GOP donors (secret is they back who can win in New Orleans) can control the outcome via backing a candidate. Sometimes their candidate loses in the primary and the candidate they back in the runoff will win.

Have allowed shitty mayors for 50 years. What a myth.

NOLA really began its death spiral with the oil price collapse in the 1980's. It really was a center of global business for offshore oil and gas before then. Prior to that the fall of Cuba to Castro cost it a lot in trade. Tampa may have been a center of trade of beef to Cuba and Cuban tobacco to Tampa, but NOLA was the trade center for most everything else including nickel ore mined in Cuba.
No one, outside of SE Louisiana, actually thought of New Orleans as a tourism hotspot before it changed its economic goals to become that.

Make bank off what?
Contracts for goods and services. Approval of projects. It all adds up.
We are talking about people who made money off of large store chains, offshore oil/gas, refineries, barges, ships, and more. One family left a few decades ago. Daddy bought a mansion like Oprah's next to Oprah and one for each of his children, in Montecito, CA.
