NOLA will never elect this in any of our lifetimes.

So sometimes you have to go for the least of all evils.

To be clear I voted for Janusa, the white male R and he got like 2000 votes.

In a runoff I would have voted for Helena easily

Helena and I don’t agree on much politically, but I do support her and think she will represent the city well. She’s a progressive but also understands the need to have a functioning city where people are safe and can have jobs.

She’s gonna be Teedy with less corruption. The crime and infrastructure issues aren’t going anywhere.

It's a fallacy to think any mayor can solve all the problems in one term or even two.

Id be happy just to stem the downfall at this point.

Teedy ain't going down without quote fight though. On Friday, she put out another request for bid proposal to cover the FQ trash service. Needs Henry and Thomas to cover them legal bills for her.

I’m saying she’s not going to do anything to improve either the crumbling infrastructure or the crime. No democrat in 2025 would ever think of tackling those problems other than lip service.

and she’s saying she will, literally she said that exact thing this morning and it’s been the centerpiece of her campaign…crime, streets, jobs. She may not succeed but unlike cantrell she will try

Nothing will change. Dindus will be dindus. Hurricanes will be hurricanes. The land will keep on sinking. No white collar job will want to move operations here. Same shite different day.

All candidates say they will. As soon as they start getting push back from the internal bureaucracy or from “community leaders/activists”, they always back down. Starting now, her first priority is re-election.

Sorry, but to say they've always been Republicans is just ridiculous when you consider their liberator was the first Republican president.

The question is, why would they leave the Party of Lincoln so completely?

It just seems to me that it's kind of a big deal in American politics, but no one ever seems to want to explore it.

dude stop being a pedant. The modern Republican Party and the modern Democratic Party bear no resemblance to their 19th century namesakes. There is simply no relative worth in that discussion. The black community has voted overwhelmingly democratic since the beginning of the 20th century and that’s a fact that isn’t going to change

I'm not. It's important to know.

It's also political, so this will be my last post ITT on the topic.

fixed.

Wrong again. I'm sorry you wish to remain ignorant of our history because you feel it has "no relative worth".

Right.

The audacity of voting for a white, male, Republican...unimaginable.

Of course it’s a wasted vote. New Orleans isn’t capable of electing a Republican.

It’s the major reason the city is in the state that it’s in.
