I have no issue with celebrating Columbus.

Celebrating "Conquered Peoples Day" seems a little unseemly. Like spiking the football after you are up by 3 TDs.

This is the correct response. We are all human.

What makes the tribes indigenous? Their ancestors came across the Bering Strait. Mine came across the Atlantic.

One of my local banks decided to go the inclusive route. They have a message on their website saying they will be closed today in order to celebrate BOTH Columbus Day and indigenous people day.

I don't have a problem with that, but it's Columbus Day in my mind.

PS - Anybody ever had a thought about what this Hemisphere would look like today if the "dreaded White man" had never started exploring? Anybody think the greatest civilization ever would have still materialized? Be honest.

You mean celebrating people that came from somewhere else just like Columbus?

Nothing Indigenous about them.

I'm of lily-white Irish ancestry, but I was born in the USA, therefore I am indigenous to this country. Thanks for celebrating me.
