How hard is it?
Put the bullets in this hole. Point this hole at what you want to die. Pull trigger repeatedly.

I’m all honesty, All this article suggests to me is that by and large Americans are a bunch of potential victims who can’t do anything to help themselves. Why are we encouraging less self-reliance? frick these cuck bitch journalists.

Guns are infrequently used defense because of fear on the part of the perp. Go compare this to England. Home invasions happen while people are home MUCH more often the here in the US. You know why? Because of the chances that “Mike the gun guy” is home, and will fight back. In England, there are no concerns on the part of the perp. Kick the door in and take what you want. A fist fight is the worst that can happen even with people home.

TJ, I don’t know if you are a troll, or just dumb.

For the record, i wish there were more perps that were worried about who they can rob/attack. Yes, that means more people with weapons on their person.

Ok. What kind of training? Be very specific.

Looks like we need more guns.

It's also a MASSIVE logic failure. If a person has basically no chance to defend themselves... the converse would be true... there is little chance they would face being threatened with another gun. So... even if the premise is true... it's not an argument to confiscate guns.

"But ... every day, they have a chance to use the gun inappropriately. They have a chance, they get angry. They get scared."

Probably the silliest thing I'll read all day. But it's early. Clearly shows the guys anti-gun bias. The same is true for atuomobils, axes, hammers, knives or any other implement. Abject stupidity.

Hemenway is a known anti-gun researcher and Mike Weisser is a liar and a pro-gun-control hack that tries to peddle himself as "responsible gun owner". I've personally shut down Weisser on a few public discussion boards when calling him out (he has stated that it was policy in at least one infantry battalion for the armorers to modify the trigger groups in deploying soldier's weapons such that they can only fire in SEMI). Anyone who believes Weisser or Hemenway are clearly retarded.

But if a gun “can save just one life,” isn’t it worth it? I’m told all the time “if such and such can save just one life,” it’s a good thing.

I love these stories. There are lies, damned lies, and statistics.

The source of that article said that less than 1% of people used a gun as self defense in nonfatal crimes. It lists over 470k nonfatal crimes. So that 1% is about 4,700 times that people claimed self defense. Well guess what? That number is just less than half the number of homicides each year ~12,000. If the number of homocides is such a big deal, then the number of times self defense was reported is a big deal too.

And of course, self defense is not going to be reported for most non fatal crimes. How many times is there a man-on-man confrontation in most crimes. How is someone going to use self defense when his car is stolen while he is at work? How is someone going to use self defense when someone vandalizes a building? How is someone going to use a gun for self defense when someone does insider trading?

That statistic is the same typical bullshite statistic.

I wonder why the author did not reference this statistic from the source. Those who committed crimes bought their guns from a flea market or gun show only 2% of the time and 40% of them got their guns ILLEGALLY. That statistic is what the stricter gun control legislation people refuse to understand. Criminals don’t follow the law!

Further proves that gun ownership does work. Fully confident that the number one reason no one has ever broken into our home is because everyone that knows anything at all about my family knows that we love guns and that we know how to use them.

I bet most of the crime they studied occurred in areas with strict gun laws, Chicago, DC, Detroit etc.

Kind of hard to defend yourself with a gun when you are a law abiding citizen and owning a gun is against the law.

Suspect!
