Carter was ahead of his time. He would’ve been a great modern liberal.

The President most responsible for this is Dwight Eisenhower. Operation Ajax was the beginning of Iranian resentment towards the West after we overthrew Mossadegh and installed the Shah.

Underrated potus, imo. Deregulation, and appointing Paul Volcker to Fed.

. . . nut certainly hasn't fallen far from the tree.

He didn't deal arms for hostages, he did send in the special forces, his middle peace plan is the only one that's worked, and it was the oil embargo that sank him. Lust in his heart was truly a Presidential moment. And his legacy will outshine all of his detractors.

Guy's the only President that I'll be sad when last demised.

Oil embargo was under Nixon, correct?

Carter inherited stagflation from the previous three presidents.

What are you like 20? He destroyed the housing and construction market. Interest rates were double digits. Gas shortages were normal. Don’t forget the hostage situation either. That guy was a complete and total disaster. As my dad says about him building houses, the sorry bastard should be building houses because he put so many Americans out of their homes during his presidency.

Were you alive or old enough to remember the Carter Administration? He was not conservative. Decent man probably but his policies both foreign and domestic were terrible.

I still have a full six pack of Billy Beer.

After 45+ years it might actually taste better now!

no the last democrat who would be considered a conservative was JFK, he cut taxes. bill clinton a moderate and obama a left wing nut like the rest now.

great summation of the times

But Republican wrong at who the finger should point. It's ok, we all know your handlers define the labels, and you guys just follow. It's certainly easier than thinking for yourself. And more a symptom of the class warfare that you born into or just spoon feed and still enjoy.

... and no I'm old enough, as well as mentally stable enough, to remember seeing JFK in person.

Man, ol Jimmy still doing his thing, too. If I live that long, I hope to still have his health and energy.

Won't get into his politics because- we all know. But he's a genuinely good person and humanitarian. Happy birthday, Mr. Carter.

Don’t tell that to the 60% here who call people scum, soy boys, pu*^ies, and liars and then get upset when Trump is called the same.

Most people can’t grasp that some Democrats are good people while some Republicans are assholes.

I’m a Republican, I know and work with a lot of Democrats and love them dearly.
