CT Democrat Introduces 50 Percent Tax on Ammunition

I’ve introduced HB 5700, a 50% tax increase on ammunition. It doesn’t apply to military or law enforcement. I’m hearing push back about the need to protect one's home… but how much ammunition does someone really need to do that? #gunsense #enough pic.twitter.com/NZjkWBrpjC

Gilchrest did not mention that a tax on ammunition makes self-defense cosh prohibitive for poorer Americans.

Yeah they never mention this shite & if this passes in CT, it WILL be brought up in your state legislature.

I can tell he doesn't own a firearm. Because if he did, he'd understand the need to constantly practice with your firearm to maintain your skills.

Not in mine... This would win the annual "deadest bill on arrival" in AL...

So the purpose of taxing ammo is to limit the amount of ammo that is purchased. So why is income taxed again?

If you knew anything about firearms you might actually be able to have an intelligent conversation about the topic.

Lord knows, Arkansas legislators have never seen a tax they didn't like, regardless of party, but at present they are too busy working on stand your ground legislation.

If you did, you might want fewer of them around so we'd have fewer deaths.

My firearms have never killed anyone.

I always love this liberal view that oppressively taxing a thing =/= infringing upon the right to the thing.

It would be like saying, "I'm not opposed to free speech, but, I would like to impose a 3000% tax on all books sold".

Shoot almost every week. I’ve built AR’s, pistols, and a few 10/22’s. Picked up competitive shooting about 2 years ago. Let’s just say I have a safe full of firearms, and not a single one of them has caused any harm to anything besides a deer or pig.

ETA: and I reload ammo for just about every firearm I own. I’m fairly well informed when it comes to firearms. Let’s hear about your background.

Yet again you continue to make moronic comments.

Well. The amount of deaths "we" have isn't why I own guns.

Just sayin......

and after the guns are gone, we’ll start taking away the knives, too! It’s worked perfectly in London. Pretty soon we’ll also outlaw cars, bats, screwdrivers. Bc anything that can possibly be used to hurt someone should be banned!!!

Proving the disingenuous spirit of the bill.

Screw the left and their wicked, underhanded souls.

They are the slumlords of criminal activity- and are always looking to blame someone else.

Meaning democrats?

Well, now that you mention it, you can pretty much use their precinct maps as a homicide map.....
