Good. Let's see how much liberal states love illegals when they can't benefit from them politically or monetarily.

They are going to drop their asses like a sack of bricks.

California will flat out refuse and dare the feds to do something about it. It cannot be understated how important the illegals are on their congressional representation and state funding.
Since when does California controller a federal agency and its processes?

Now THAT is a scary thought

It was an expedited hearing. The case went directly from the circuit court to the SC and not through the Court of Appeals. I heard it has to be decided soon as the forms need to be printed this summer. A ruling is expected in June.

You are correct. They will be instructed (by political leaders) to fill out the form but lie if they are non-citizens.

Yeah, but I am going to put something out, and I'd love for a lawyer to correct me on this if I am wrong.

There are requirements for voting in Federal Elections, of which citizenship is obviously one.

BUT the number of electors and Representatives each state gets is based solely on residents, regardless of whether they are US citizens or not?

You are right and looking at it wrong.

It is not that non-citizens will not count, it is non-citizens will not participate. The non-participation is what will reduce the numbers. Congressional seats are locked at 435 (voting members) and are assigned to states of census totals. CA is home to around 2 million illegal aliens, so if they are not counted it will reduce their number from 53. Here was the result from the last census

And here are some growth patterns. CA should lose a seat.

Would have been five if Merrick Garland would have been seated. We are in for the fight of our Republic's life if the democrats get back in power. I won't expand. You should know what I mean.

What? They just had the oral argument. They haven't even begun actually making a decision or writing an opinion. Heck, they have to vote so that the opinion can actually be assigned to one of them.

So we are close to May which is right before June. June is stated as the month the Supremes will rule on this issue. We don't know which way this will go but we will before the end of June.

Ummmm.... most of them aren't just random criminals. Lets give them the benefit of the doubt and not say all will lie to the federal government.

Of course some will, but I bet you the majority will refrain from answering.

Right, but the OP states that it "seems clear" that this will be a 5-4 decision when they haven't even conferenced and voted yet. That's all I am saying. Is it likely to be a 5-4 decision? Probably, but that doesn't mean it is "clear" yet.

I agree. Republican appointees have done a lot more shifting to the left than lefties going right. I agree with Roberts and Kavanaugh, we don't know how they will rule. It boggles the mind when you think about it. This country is going into the Krapper.

Why is this relevant?

?

Isn't it obvious?

Let's say that California has... oh 30 million legal citizens.

And ten million non-citizens, including illegals residing in Calfornia.

The Census indicates that 40 million people live in California, whether only 30 million are citizens and thus legally able to vote in Federal Elections or not.

Meanwhile South Carolina has far less non-citizens residing in it - a pattern true for a lot of Red States I think.

Should (and Is?) Calfornia awarded electors and a proportional number of Representatives based on a population of 40 million?

Sounds wonky, but essentially my pulled-from-the-arse numbers would indicate that California has 33% more throw-weight in packing the House with little SJW's and electing witches.

And I don't like that.

I'm with you. I'm sure this is being based on the line of questioning by each Justice, but 1) A potential 5-4 vote only requires one of the 5 in the majority to flip, and 2) Some of us strongly suspect that Justice Roberts is compromised. If our speculation is correct, who's to say that Roberts' handlers won't call in their chips on this vote?

After all, this case certainly has the feel of potentially being very impactful.
