It has to go deeper than a tax break for kids in nuclear families. But that would take admitting that some societal structures are inherently advantageous to others. And we’re not far enough down the rabbit hole/sewer drain to admit it.

We already give sizeable tax advantages to married couples.

Goddamn you are stupid.

No I am saying banning pornography won’t make people stop using it and it will be a colossal failure like the wsr on drugs has been

Nah. Married alone isn’t good enough. You need to pump out kids and replenish the population if you want tax breaks.

I've seen a couple of catholic families in church lately with nine and ten kids. What makes them different?

They are producing and raising the next generation. The childless aren’t. If you want the big tax break, you need to contribute.

So pornography usage rates are constant regardless of legality. Got it.

Why is everyone retarded?

Look no further than Oregon in the last 5 years to see that criminalizing drugs has a very positive impact in the community. Criminalizing pornography would have a similar positive impact. Making something harder to get will always mean less people do it. That’s common sense.

But you’re just doing the same thing with your idea.

My idea is to limit that power, so I don't see how that's the same thing.

Calling it “development”, which typically has a positive meaning in this context, is. You could have used the word “change”; you didn’t.

Well my comment was made from the timeframe of pre-society to today.

I mean if you want to argue hunter-gatherer, non-literate humanity is somehow on even or higher standing than today, I'm willing to listen, but I think it will be difficult to argue.

At what point does government mandated safety rules and regulations for a potentially personally damaging product cross over into a 1A violation for you?

The issue is the type of product falling under the 1A. This is the extreme minority and I'd hope that for 99%+ of versions of "speech", it would be pretty unanimous that the government should be prohibited from that regulation.

No. I said with respect to power, discussing power is the entirety of the discussion.

Promoting more power in government is locating yourself closer to authoritarianism. This is just basic political theory.

Nowhere did I discuss "liberalism", unless you're defining it as the lack of government power.

I support the idea though not sure what exactly this bill would do. It's a terrible thing that young men have unending access to porn 24/7

It's also wildly embarrassing to me how many grown men have porn addictions. It's one of the worst things to happen to modern society

Then I don't really know what we're arguing about I suppose. I don't think authoritarianism vs. liberalism is the lifeblood of American conservatism or debates between American left-right. But I recognize that this is how some considerable swath of conservatives have framed it of late, so in that sense, I would expect the "hypocrisy" charges you're referencing. I just don't think very much of them or care, I guess, and those likely to let those potential arguments influence their course of action are likely just libertarians masquerading as conservatives.

You're a liberal, correct? I think you're advocating for liberalism and against my postliberalism/illiberalism, no?
