Translated into everyday English, she said:
quote:

A percentage of my Black students uniformly perform at the bottom of the curve. I wish that were not so. It is so frustrating.
Probably a secret Grand Dragon.

Oh you mean in a program that allows people in based on the color of their skin instead of the merits of their work, those people do far worse than the ones that got in on the merits of their work? Shocking. She should be fired for saying that obvious fact.

Leftists want equity in everything based on race, not merit.

"...investigation being conducted by the Office of Diversity, Equity and Affirmative Action", this is straight out of Nazi Germany.

I don't see what the professor did wrong. She acknowledges that every semester some of her lowest performing students academically are black and she's upset about it.

I agree. Seems like ANY discussion of black people is now off limits.

Should she have known better than to say anything in today’s political climate...yes.

If it is blind grading like at most law schools, did she say anything that was wrong or racist...no, it was an observation.

This is the true cruelty of affirmative action: robbing accomplished blacks of the pride of their accomplishments.

Whether or not they are where they are because of AA, that thought lurks in their mind whether in their own perception or concerned with the perception of others

Exactly. This is how I've always seen it. It also lurks in the minds of everyone else. If you had black brain surgeon who is scheduled to operate on your child, would this not creep into your mind?

You know what? I hate to say this, I end up having this angst every semester that a lot of my lower ones are Blacks,

This is as shocking as asians routinely populating the highest percentile. Individuals can be anything, but groups have trends.

What happened to tenure and academic freedom to say what you want to say?

She is being fired for making a direct observation of what goes on in her classroom. Yet liberal professors are allowed to say and tweet the most outrageous, hateful nonsense about Trump and conservatives. I mean, like wishing death on their political opponents and such.

When people challenge the school's administration they release some generic statement like, "we don't agree with this but professors have academic freedom to espouse their views...".

She did not have tenure. Only an adjunct professor. in other words, someone in private practice who taught one class.

I'm not sure if it is still around, but LawSchoolNumbers used to track admissions and one of the factors was UM - Underrepresented Minority

When a white guy posted "Hey I got a 160 LSAT and a 3.6 from UNC where should I apply?" the answers were like "Maybe you can get waitlisted at UNC or UGA, try South Carolina, Richmond, Samford"

When a black guy posted "Hey I got a 160 LSAT and a 3.6 from UNC where should I apply?" the answers were like "Harvard Yale Stanford, you're an auto admit for one of the 3 at least"

It's absolutely insane

Interesting how they can fire a professor when they so desire.

Point taken but even if she were tenured she would likely still be fired.

Furthermore, when I see a black colleague struggling, I, maybe unreasonably so, take it as a reflection upon me.

That's what identity politics does. It would never occur to me to just identify with another white person because they're white. It would also never occur to me to identify a well-performing student with a struggling one just because you have the same skin tone.

Thomas Sowell writes about mismatching in college.
I'll use ACT scores just to illustrate:
Black kids have ACT of 24. That's fine for Georgetown but Harvard needs more blacks so they give him a scholarship. They're their dumbest kids at Harvard.

Georgetown then runs short of black 24s gone to Ivy so they lower to 20 for blacks. They're the dumbest kids at Gtown.

LSU runs out of black 20s gone to Gtown so they lower to 16. Dumbest kids at LSU.

Sowell says these kids would be better served and graduate at higher levels if they went to the school of their level instead of being bumped up to levels they're not suited for just to reach a quota.

So prosecute the evidence but don’t investigate the accusation. Clown world.

The university should take the steps to find the truth. However, much easier just to hide in all and bow down to the alter of diversity.

The funny part is I guarantee this professor is a liberal who votes democrat every year. She thought because she knows she’s not racist she could speak truthfully....what an idiot. I love seeing the left eat their own. When enough liberals get taken down by the Inquisition is when things will actually change.

Anyone who says that simple truth is "reprehensible," should be fired.

I hope the professor sues their arses until they bleed money and get fired for being unAmerican.

On twitter, the woman and the other prof on the Zoom call are being treated like they are David Duke and George Wallace planning a cross burning

twitter page of some guy on the Georgetown admissions committee. Some of the comments are completely detached from reality

From the article. This sounds ominous:

quote:

The group also demanded that Georgetown Law require a public apology from Batson, carry out an audit of Sellers’ past grading “to account for her admitted biases,”

For those who are interested, here's the letter sent by the Georgetown Law School Black Student alumni:

It's hard for me to believe these people graduated from law school
